Tarleton State Women’s Golf opens WAC-Champion defending season at The Southern

STEPHENVILLE, Texas — Tarleton State Women's Golf will open its season on Monday at The Southern hosted by Georgia Southern at the Forest Heights Golf Club in Statesboro, Ga.

The Texans will open their fall slate after winning their first WAC Tournament Championship in program history last spring. The Purple and White earned their first berth to the NCAA Regional Championships as the WAC's automatic qualifier. At the WAC Championships, Louise Depadt won the individual crown shooting a program record 206, 10-under par.

The two-day, 54-hole event will begin with a shotgun start on both Monday and Tuesday at 8:30 a.m. Live results will be provided by Golf Genius. Follow @tarletonwgolf for updates and highlights on X and Instagram.

"We are excited to start the season this week here at Georgia Southern, "said coach Jimenez. "It is a first for us competing in this tournament, but we are very excited for the scenery out here at Forest Heights Golf Course. We only have had a couple weeks of practices leading up to the event, but we are ready to start the season. The year is long and we have a lot to look forward to."

At the end of last season, head coach Isabel Jimenez was named the WAC Co-Coach of the Year, the first of her career and the first in the D1 era to win the honor. Depadt was tabbed the WAC Co-Golfer of the Year, the first in the D1 era and the first since Sarah Gee was named the Lone Star Conference Player of the Year in 2018. Lou Deltombe was selected to the All-WAC Second Team for her efforts during the 2024-25 season.

This season, the Texans return four from the defending WAC Champion squad and added a pair of newcomers. Deltombe, Darianys Guzman and Rebeca Fernandez all return for their senior season with the program. Reining WAC individual champion and junior Depadt returns for her second season as a Texan. Freshman Gina Chen joins the squad from Taipei, Taiwan and Natalia Fiel Ros is a transfer from Kansas State, hailing from Valencia, Spain.

The 2025 fall slate is full of out of state travel. All five of the Texans fall invitationals will take place outside of Texas. Tarleton State will be back in action on Sept. 22 in Spokane, Wash. at the Kalispel Invitational hosted by Eastern Washington. Tarleton State will also travel to Kansas twice and to Queen Creek, Ariz. to end the fall campaign.
