Tarleton State Women’s Golf ready for Waco Regional in back-to-back NCAA Regional appearances

STEPHENVILLE, Texas — Tarleton State Women's Golf is set to return to the NCAA Regionals for the second-straight season, set to tee off on Monday morning at the Waco Regional. The regional will run from Monday to Wednesday with a single round each day at the Ridgewood Country Club in Waco, Texas.

Tarleton State Women's Golf is heading back to an NCAA Regional for the second-consecutive season in just their second season eligible for NCAA postseason play. Last year, the Texans earned a bid to the Lubbock Regional where they placed 11th overall. This year, the Purple and White are once again the 11th seed and will be competing in a field also including: top seeded Texas A&M, 2-seed Oregon, 3-seed Tennessee, 4-seed SMU, 5-seed Baylor, 6-seed LSU, 7-seed TCU, 8-seed Tulsa, 9-seed Colorado, 10-seed Northern Arizona and 12-seed Prairie View A&M. Also competing in the regional is fellow WAC golfer, Ryann Honea of Abilene Christian who earned an at-large bid into the field as an individual.

"We are going into regionals very motivated and with high expectations," said head coach Isabel Jimenez. "We have worked hard to get here and this second time around feels different. The team is ready to post some good scores this week and we look forward to sharing the field with all these other top-ranked teams."

The Texans will be paired with golfers from Northern Arizona and Prairie View A&M on Monday and will start from the 10th tee. Each day the teams will be paired based on their team ranking heading into the next round. Darianys Guzman is the first Texan is slated to tee off at 8:50 am CT on Monday morning. Natalia Fiel Ros will tee off at 9 am followed by Gina Chen at 9:10 am. The final two Texans to tee off will be All-WAC First Team selection Lou Deltombe at 9:20 am and the reigning WAC Golfer of the Year, Louise Depadt, at 9:30 am.

The Waco Regional will be streamed on Babygrande Golf. All three rounds will be covered, but there is an additional fee to use their service. Live scoring will be provided by the NCAA and available on Clippd. For the latest content, highlights and video, follow @tarletonwgolf on Instagram and X.

There are six regional sites each featuring 12 teams and six individuals, with 396 total participants. All six regionals are set to begin on May 11 and end on May 13, pending weather. The top five teams and the low individual not on an advancing team from each regional site will advance to compete in the NCAA Women's Golf National Championships.  The 30 qualifying teams and six individuals will advance to play on May 22-27 at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa in Carlsbad, California.

Tarleton State pulled off an improbable comeback to win back-to-back WAC Championships and clinch the WAC automatic bid to the NCAA Regionals after ending the first round in fourth place. The Texans improved by 17 strokes in their second round to tie Abilene Christian for first heading into the final day. After the first nine holes, the Texans led by two and saw their lead increase in the back nine to 11 to claim the back-to-back title.

Depadt was tabbed as the WAC Golfer of the Year for the second year in a row after being named Co-Golfer of the Year last season. In addition to Golfer of the Year, she also earned an All-WAC First Team selection. Depadt won her second consecutive WAC Individual Championship crown last week at the Clubs of Stonebridge Ranch carding a one-over, 217, to win by two strokes. Depadt is the fifth golfer in the WAC to win back-to-back individual titles and the first since Idaho's Kayla Mortellaro in 2011 and 2012.

Head coach Jimenez was honored as the Co-Coach of the Year for the second-straight year after winning back-to-back WAC team championship titles. A year after winning the program's first WAC Championship, Jimenez led the Texans to a back-to-back title, this time winning by 11 strokes. The Texans became the sixth program to earn back-to-back WAC women's golf titles in consecutive seasons. Tarleton State is now one of six programs to win multiple team titles. The Texans are the only current WAC school with multiple team championships as well as the only current WAC school to have earned a team victory.

Deltombe earned a First Team All-WAC selection after tying for second place at the 2026 WAC Championships. The senior posted her highest finish at the WAC Championships shooting a dominant two rounds to climb the leaderboards into a top two finish. After starting off with a four-over, 74, she closed with a two-under, 70 and one-over, 73, to finish at three-over, 219.

Tarleton State Women's Golf has returned to prominence following a dominant run at the NCAA Division II level. Across an 11-year span toward the end of the D2 days, the Texans qualified for the NCAA Regional Tournament 10 times and won 11 Lone Star Conference Championships while members of the LSC. Tarleton State Women's Golf has won its first conference championship since 2018, the last time they had the full team play in the NCAA Regional Tournament.
