Haut adds Bo Gray as fourth addition to staff ahead of 2026-27 season

STEPHENVILLE, Texas — Tarleton State Men's Basketball head coach Eric Haut announced on Monday his fourth addition to his first staff, assistant coach Bo Gray.

Gray is the fourth addition to Haut's staff in his first year with the Texans. In addition to Gray, Jean Prioleau, Jake Williams and Tre Cobbs have already been announced as assistant coaches. Haut has worked quickly to build his staff and they are on the recruiting trail building the roster for the 2026-27 season.

"I'm excited to officially announce the addition of Bo Gray to our staff," said Haut. "Bo is an up-and-coming star in this profession—organized, detail-oriented, and extremely driven to make an impact on every aspect of our program. He will play a key role in helping run our day-to-day operations, while also contributing on the court with player development and on the recruiting trail as we continue to build for the future. His ability to connect with players, along with his work ethic and attention to detail, will make him an invaluable part of what we're doing here."

Most recently, Gray spent two seasons with Illinois State as a graduate assistant. Prior to his time in Normal, Ill., he spent five seasons as a student assistant at Youngstown State under head coach Jarrod Calhoun. Calhoun left the same year as Gray and took the head coaching job at Utah State where he hired new Tarleton State head coach, Eric Haut.

"Bo brings outstanding experience from working under coaches that I worked for or played for in Jerrod Calhoun (University of Cincinnati Head Coach) and Ryan Pedon (Illinois State Head Coach), said Haut. "Learning under leaders like them has helped shape his approach, and it shows in the way he carries himself and prepares every day. Please join me in welcoming Bo to the 'Ville! Let's work!"

Throughout Gray's career, he has spent seven seasons working in college basketball. He has worked with 19 players that have played at the professional level as well as 18 players that have earned all-conference honors.

"I am thrilled for the opportunity to join Coach Haut's staff at Tarleton State," said Gray. "I look forward to working with our players and staff every day to ensure ourselves the best opportunity to be the best we can be and compete for UAC championships."

During his two seasons with Illinois State, the Redbirds had a pair of 20-win seasons and made deep postseason runs. In the 2024-25 season, Illinois State held a 22-14 record and won their final three games of the season to win the CBI Championship in Daytona Beach, Fla. This past season, the Redbirds were 23-13 and earned a berth to the NIT Final Four where they lost to the eventual champion, Auburn. As a graduate assistant, he helped Illinois State in daily operations and analytics.

Gray started his coaching career as a student assistant under head coach Jarrod Calhoun at Youngstown State ahead of the 2019-2020 season. He spent five seasons with the Penguins being the Head Student Assistant for four seasons starting in the 2020-21 season. During his five seasons with the program, he had various duties ranging from day-to-day operations to data analytics to scouting opponents' films.

The Penguins had a winning record in each of his five seasons taking home the Horizon League regular season title for the 2022-23 season. During his time with the program, Youngstown State held a 96-62 record with a pair of 20-win seasons. The team made a pair of postseason appearances with an NIT bid in 2023 and a win at The 2022 Basketball Classic.

The Texans will continue to announce roster addition and the 2026-27 schedule at a later date.
