Tarleton State Men’s Basketball welcomes Daytona State transfer Adrian Shackleton

STEPHENVILLE, Texas — Tarleton State Men's basketball head coach Eric Haut announced the fourth addition to the 2026-27 roster via the transfer portal with the announcement of Daytona State transfer Adrian Shackleton on Thursday afternoon.

Shackleton is 6-4 guard originally from Palm Beach, Fla., but he started his collegiate career just 45 minutes away from Stephenville at Weatherford College. After a successful season with the Coyotes as a freshman in 2024-25, he transferred for his sophomore season at Daytona State. He is set to be an incoming junior in his first season with the Texans this fall.

"Adrian has the ability to impact the game on both ends of the floor, which makes him a valuable addition to any roster," said Haut. "At 6-4, he's a versatile combo guard who can consistently break down defenders off the dribble and create offense for himself and others. What truly separates Adrian is his physicality—he has the strength, toughness, and defensive mindset to guard multiple perimeter positions at a high level, which fits perfectly with our system. He competes with purpose every time he steps on the floor, and that competitive edge that is a direct reflection of who he is and the guidance he's received from his parents, Nesly and Tammy. We're excited about what Adrian brings and the impact that he'll have both on and off the court."

He most recently spent the 2025-26 season as a sophomore at Daytona State. He helped lead the Falcons to a 27-8 overall record and a Citrus Conference Championship. Shackleton was tabbed Second Team All-Conference averaging 11.3 points, 6.1 rebounds, 2.75 assists per conference game. The Falcons were the FCSAA Division I runners-up and earned a bid to the NJCAA National Tournament. Shackleton earned a selection to the FCSAA All-Tournament Team averaging 11 points per game in the tournament. The Falcons reached the second round of the NJCAA Tournament. He was tabbed JUCO Top 100 honorable mention by jucorecruiting.com

"I chose Tarleton State because of the vision Coach E and the whole coaching staff had for me but as well as the team," said Shackleton. "The chance to compete at a high level and win was something I was looking for in my next school, and I found it. I'm excited to embrace this journey with the Texans and can't wait to get to work!"

Shackleton averaged 9.8 points per game in his lone season with the Falcons. The sophomore scored in double figures in 19 games. The Palm Beach, Fla., native, scored a career-best 24 points against Jones College (March 21). He made multiple triples in 10 games including a season-high six in his penultimate game of the season. Shackleton tallied double digit rebound totals in three contests, all resulting in double-doubles. He recorded his first collegiate double-double against Hillsborough CC (Jan. 31).

As a freshman in 2024-25, he started his collegiate career at Weatherford College. He averaged 8.0 points per game as a rookie for the Coyotes. He scored in double figures 11 times, with nine coming in his last 14 games of the season. The freshman scored a season-best 21 points against Grayson College (Feb. 26).

Tarleton State will continue to announce its roster signees and its 2026-27 schedule at a later date.
