BLACKWATER DRAW, N.M. – The No. 13 Tarleton Texan football team racked up 356 yards in the second half on Saturday and scored 30 of the game's final 37 points to claim a 30-20 road win at Eastern New Mexico in Blackwater Draw, N.M. Saturday.
The Texan defense, which helped its team improve to 7-1 overall and 2-1 in the Lone Star Conference South Division, held the Greyhounds to just 144 second half yards as ENMU fell to 2-6 overall and 0-4 in the South.
Tarleton trailed 13-0 at the half, but a strong second half gave the Texans the victory where they have only won on two previous occasions.

Jahmeel Hobson turned in a 170-yard receiving performance on 10 catches with one touchdown. The total was the seventh-best receiving total in school history for a single game.
Quarterback
Scott Grantham threw for over 300 yards for the second straight week, connecting on 25-of-52 attempts for 352 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions.
The Texans gained a total of 502 yard, including 150 on the ground and 352 in the air. Tarleton's defense held ENMU to 47 yards on the ground and 320 yards passing for a total of 367. The Texan defense also intercepted four passes and recovered two fumbles.
Tarleton took the opening kickoff to the red zone, but an interception stalled the drive. The Greyhounds took their fourth possession of the contest 57 yards on seven plays to score the first points of the game when Dominic Preston caught a 24-yard pass from Wesley Wood. Taylor Cannon's kick was good to make it 7-0 with 14:28 left in the second quarter.
After a Texan fumble, the Greyhounds scored again when Stefan Mills caught a 21-yard pass from Wood to close a nine-play, 70-yard drive with 10:12 left in the first half. The extra point was no good, and the Greyhounds led 13-0.
Tarleton had just 146 yards of offense in the first half to ENMU's 223, but the second half was like night and day.
The Texans took over the momentum in the third quarter. After recovering a Greyhound fumble, the Texans needed just one play – a 61-yard pass from Grantham to Hobson – to get on the board.
Garrett Lindholm's kick went through the uprights, but the officials called it no good, so the Texans trailed 13-6.
Evan Robertson punched the ball in from one yard out with 4:52 left in the third quarter to close a five-play, 45-yard drive. Lindholm's kick was this time called good and Tarleton tied the game at 13.
Tarleton then took the lead for the first time when Lindholm connected on a 20-yard field goal to cap a five-play, 34-yard drive. Tarleotn led 16-13 with 2:06 left in the third quarter.
The Greyhounds were stuff on offense throughout the third quarter, and the first time they broke into Tarleton territory was with 11 minutes left in the game. However, they did not score on the drive.
Tarleton added to its lead when Grantham ran the ball in himself. He leaped over the defenders and did a flip into the endzone to put Tarleton ahead by 10 after Lindholm's kick. With 14:17 remaining in the contest, Tarleton led 23-13, and the score closed a six-play, 50-yard drive.
The Greyhounds got on the board for the first time in the second half when Chase Kyser caught a 40-yard touchdown pass from Wood to cap a five-play, 66-yard drive. Cannon's kick made it 23-20 with 6:27 on the clock.
Tarleton needed a long, sustaining drive, and it got just that, as Grantham directed the offense 71 yards on eight plays and took 4:13 off the clock. The final score of the game came when Robertson scored on a 12-yard touchdown pass. Lindholm connected on his kick and the Texans led 30-20 with 2:07 remaining in the contest.
The Texan defense forced a turnover on downs, and Tarleton found the victory formation to claim its seventh victory of the season.
The Texans will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 24 at home against Abilene Christian for Homecoming. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m.
