TexAnn Volleyball back on the road against Kingsville on Thursday

KINGSVILLE – The Tarleton volleyball team will finalize its current three-match road swing this Thursday, Oct. 22, as the team travels to Kingsville to face the Javelinas in a Lone Star Conference match-up.

The TexAnns are coming off a pair of LSC losses and enter Thursday's match 8-17 overall and 3-5 in the conference.  Coupled with last week's losses, the TexAnns have lost six of their past eight matches with four of them coming in five sets.

Texas A&M-Kingsville is 15-9 overall and currently eighth in the LSC with a 4-4 mark in conference play.  The Javelinas have won six straight matches, including Tuesday's 3-0 win over Texas A&M International in Laredo.

Despite last season's 3-2 win over the Javelinas, the TexAnns are still behind in the all-time series.  TAMUK leads 18-13, but have lost three of the past four contests.   Tarleton is just 5-9 all-time in Kingsville with its last win coming back on Sept. 30, 2006.

The Javelinas are led by Kristin Chancellor who heads into Thursday's match with 208 kills and 78 total blocks (12 solo).  TAMUK runs a 6-2 offensive set and are led by both Kirby Kruger (462 assists) and Tara Grier (431 assists) at the setter position.  Virginia Hernandez leads the Javelinas defensively with 368 digs.

Shay Gracy leads the TexAnns with 258 kills and 84 total blocks on the season.  She recorded nine assisted blocks last weekend and moved into third-place on Tarleton's all-time assisted blocks list with 227.  She has 300 total blocks in her career and is just nine blocks away from entering the top five all-time in total blocks.

Following Gracy on offense and defense are Rachel Wolf, who is second on the team with 233 kills, and Erin with 59 total blocks.

Jessie Hartman leads the team with 753 assists.  That is a new career-high for the sophomore after recording 737 assists in her freshman campaign last season.  She leads the team with 23 service aces as well.

She McBrearty leads the team with 414 digs and ranks fifth in the conference averaging 4.45 digs per set.

Other notable leaders for Tarleton include Catherine Cutbirth (133 kills; 49 blocks), Kendall Hansen (125 kills), Wolf (19 aces), Hartman (203 digs) and Danielle Perkins (125 assists).

First service on Thursday is set for 7 p.m. at Hampton Inn Court in Kingsville.
