STEPHENVILLE - The TexAnn volleyball team split their matches in Friday's action at the 2009 TexAnn Invitational at Tarleton Recreation Sports Center in Stephenville.

The TexAnns (3-8) fell to Texas-Permian Basin (3-9) in straight sets in Tarleton's opening match of the day.  The Falcons came out strong and never looked back, defeating the TexAnns 25-17, 25-22 and 25-23. 

Shay Gracy and Rachel Wolf led the TexAnns with eight kills each, but the TexAnns finished the match with an attack percentage of just .130.  Defensively the TexAnns were able to out-dig and out-block the Falcons as Tarleton's Shea McBrearty led the team with 16 of the team's 52 digs.  Gracy led the charge with three assisted blocks in the game.  Setter Jessie Hartman led the squad with 21 assists.

Molly Atnip led the Falcons with eight kills, while setter Brianna Tunnell ran the offense and finished up with a match-high 29 assists.

Tarleton didn't waste any time in their second match of the day, downing Oklahoma Panhandle State (1-9) in straight sets (25-20, 25-18, 25-16).

The TexAnns look for in sync offensively as Tarleton finished the match with 43 kills on a season-high .280 hitting percentage.  Gracy again led the TexAnns with 15 kills and three blocks (one solo).  Wolf, Margaret Luedecke adn Morgan Wallace each tallied eight kills apiece.  Hartman had 30 assists and McBrearty had 24 digs. 

Krisha Roach was tops in kills for the Lady Aggies with 11 on the evening.  Cheryl Coldwell finished the match with 27 assists.

The TexAnns will resume tournament again tomorrow.  Tarleton will open tomorrow's matches against Incarnate Word who went 1-1 in Friday's matches.  The TexAnns will then conclude the tournament against Texas A&M International who also went 1-1 on Friday.  Matches begin at 9 a.m. tomorrow at the Recreation Sports Center.
