STEPHENVILLE – The Tarleton volleyball team will host West Texas A&M Thursday, Oct. 28 at 7 p.m. in Wisdom Gym South.
The TexAnns (20-7, 6-4 conference) will face a West Texas (19-8, 11-0 conference) team that has yet to lose to a conference opponent this season. In fact, the Lady Buffs have won 77 straight games against LSC foes, tying the school record.
Tarleton is undefeated at home, 9-0, and will look to maintain that record against a dangerous Lady Buff attack. The TexAnns are hitting a .210 percentage, averaging 13.1 kills per game, 11.9 assists per game and 15 digs per game. West Texas is hitting a .234 percentage, with 13.6 kills per game, 12.8 assists per game and 17 digs per game.
Tarleton will need production from their offense, piloted by
Rachel Wolf, who has 285 kills on the year,
Flynn Harrell, who has 218 kills, and
Irelis Ilarraza, who is on fire as of late totaling 200 kills this season.
Jessie Hartman will be the main facilitator, compiling 618 assists this year, while
Danielle Barker will try to add to her 353 assists.
Defensively, Tarleton has held their opponents to just a .160 attack percentage on the season.
Monica Hamel, the reigning LSC defensive player of the week, leads the squad with 66 blocks, while
Catherine Cutbirth has contributed 65 blocks.
Shea McBrearty has collected 396 digs this year, followed by Hartman with 199 digs and Wolf with 182 digs.
The Lady Buffs team is anchored by Lauren Thedford, who has 276 kills and 370 digs on the year, while Erika Dupree has contributed 238 kills and 599 assists. Teresa Dunn has provided 381 assists, with Lauren Beville leading the team with 377 digs this season.
Thursday is Pink Out at the volleyball match, where the fan wearing the most pink will win a prize.
