DENTON – The TexAnns lost in five sets to Texas Woman's University Thursday night in Denton.
After dropping the first game 20-25, Tarleton won back-to-back games 25-23 and 25-16. The TexAnns had a couple of chances to seal the victory, but lost the fourth set 22-25 and the fifth set 15-13.
Tarleton, who hit a .177 percentage for the match, was inconsistent at times, but still had some strong individual performances.
Offensively, Rachel Wolf led with 12 kills, while Irelis Ilarraza, Breawn Waynes, and Stacie Murrah all had 10 kills each.
Jessie Hartman contributed 28 assists to go along with 15 digs, with Danielle Barker adding 19 assists and 11 digs. Shea McBrearty anchored the defense with 28 digs for the TexAnns.
The Texas Woman's squad picked up the victory, despite hitting just a .140 attack percentage. Katelyn Osbourne piloted the Pioneers with 13 kills, while also collecting 17 digs. Sydney Veitenheimer had 26 assists and 12 digs, with Kaytlin Harrison adding 16 assists and Kendra Coulson recording 23 digs.
The TexAnns will take on Texas A&M-Commerce Saturday, Oct. 9 at 2 p.m. The Lions from Commerce are 7-9 on the season, while Tarleton stands at 14-6.
