Tarleton volleyball team falls short in Wichita Falls

WICHITA FALLS – The TexAnns dropped their second to last match of the season to Midwestern State Thursday night 1-3.

The Mustangs jumped on Tarleton early, taking the first set 10-25. The TexAnns responded with a 25-20 win in the second set, before coming up empty in the third and fourth sets, 19-25, 22-25.

Tarleton hit just a .066 percentage in the match as they struggled to keep up with host Midwestern State.

Flynn Harrell and Rachel Wolf led the offensive effort with 11 kills each, while Irelis Ilarraza added 10 kills. Jessie Hartman provided 23 assists to her teammates with Danielle Barker adding 15 more.

Shea McBrearty anchored the defense with 19 digs, while Barker contributed 10 digs of her own.

The Mustangs (15-13, 9-5 conf.) hit a .238 mark against the TexAnns, led by Hillary White, who had 11 kills, and Shelbi Stewart, who had 10 kills. Kimberly Jeffrey had 26 assists for the host team, while Zowie O'Neal had 17 assists. Kiara Jordan piloted the defense with 18 digs.

Tarleton (21-9, 7-6 conf.) will take on Cameron Saturday Nov. 6 at 2 p.m. in Lawton, Okla. The TexAnns will use the match to prepare for the LSC conference tournament, which begins next Thursday, Nov. 11. Tournament location, participants, and schedules will be announced next week.
