STEPHENVILLE - The Tarleton Texan baseball team will host Northeastern State with a four-game series at Cecil Ballow Baseball Complex set to begin on Sunday, Feb. 14. Doubleheaders are scheduled for both Sunday and Monday beginning at 1 p.m.
The Texans are coming off a 3-1 series win over Colorado Christian last weekend. The Texans and Cougars split last Saturday's games before Tarleton swept Sunday's doubleheader.
The RiverHawks are 1-3 on the season after dropping three games to Nebraska-Kearney at Rousey Field in Tahlequah, Okla. last weekend.
Tarleton took two games from the RiverHawks on the road last season and came away with the series win after the final game ended in a 6-6 tie because of darkness. NSU heads into this weekend's games leading the all-time series 11-10-1.
Zane Hensley leads the team in hitting with a .500 batting average and six hits on the season. He is followed by
Nathan Hille who is averaging .400 at the plate. Junnior Dishmey and
Charlie Ulbricht are tied for the team lead with four runs batted in. Dishmey however leads the team with four stolen bases.
Mike Ramirez leads the Texans on the mound with a 0.00 earned run average. He and
Colt Molloy are tied for the team lead with eight strikeouts each.
Nathan Lewis is tops on the squad with one save in one save opportunity.
Noah Ringenberger leads the RiverHawks at the dish with a .556 average. Eric McKinney (.533) leads NSU with eight hits and one home run on the season.
Andrew White (7.20 ERA) has the one win for the RiverHawks after working 5.0 innings and striking out seven batters last weekend.
Ryan Salt (0-0, 3.00) is scheduled to get the start in game one on Sunday. Ramirez (1-0) will get the nod in game two.
