TexAnns suffer first loss of the season

SAN ANGELO – For the first time this season, the Tarleton TexAnn volleyball team has suffered a loss, falling in the Lone Star Conference opener at Angelo State in San Angelo, 3-0.

The Rambelles took the first game 25-16 before winning 25-21 and 25-20.  Tarleton fell to 9-1 overall and 0-1 in conference play while ASU improved to 4-6 and 1-1.

The TexAnns hit a disappointing .034 in the match and had a -0.021 percentage in the first game of the match.  Their average improved in each game (.000 and .143), but Rambelles hit .194 in the contest, including a .219 and .265 average in games two and three, respectively.

Tarleton was led by Rachel Wolf with nine kills while Stacie Murrah had eight kills for second on the team.  She led the squad with a .278 hitting percentage while four different TexAnns hit in negative numbers.

Jessie Hartman had 17 assists to top the squad while Shea McBrearty had 11 digs. 

Tarleton had just five total blocks in the match.

Chelsea Gibson led the home team with 13 kills while Alisa Meredith was second with 10.  Alex Woolsey had 30 assists to lead the team as Shelby Warick and Meredith each had 12 assists.  ASU had five total blocks.

Tarleton will return to action on Saturday, Sept. 18 at Abilene Christian.  The match is set to begin at 2 p.m. in Moody Coliseum in Abilene.
