STEPHENVILLE - Tarleton State (15-13, 9-7) put aside all the talks of its recent losing streak, for the night, after sweeping the streaking Cameron Aggies (14-11, 8-9) at Wisdom Gym Thursday.
The Aggies entered the game after jumping into the middle of the Lone Star Conference race with a hot stretch over the past two weeks, while the TexAnns had lost five of their last six.
Cameron got off to a quick start, scoring four of the first six points, before Tarleton responded with a 6-0 run started by Flynn Harrell.
Tarleton maintained a slim lead, but CU managed to knot the score at 13-13.
The TexAnns rallied to extend their lead with five straight points on three kills by Harrell, a service ace by Danielle Barker and an attack error by Cameron.
CU never got closer than four points as Tarleton claimed the opening set 25-19.
The second set was neck-and-neck over the first 29 points as Tarleton held a slim 15-14 lead.
Then the TexAnns let loose.
Stacie Murrah landed a kill, Harrell followed with two and Ashley Rine added one to go along with a pair of CU errors to lead 22-14 and force an Aggie timeout.
Out of the break, Cameron score the first point but the TexAnns ended the set with kills by Barker, Rine and Katie Covell. to win 25-15.
Set three went down to the wire as Tarleton blew lead of seven and six points.
After Tarleton appeared to be cruising at 11-4, Cameron struck for six straight to bring the score to 11-10.
The TexAnns regained a lead after a 5-0 push and extended their lead to 20-14.
Again Cameron clawed back, this time to tie it at 21-21.
A pair of kills by Harrell and a bad set by Cameron set up a kill by Breawn Waynes to claim the set and the match, 25-23.
Harrell led the team with 12 kills while Nikki McNorton added 10. MvNorton has now tallied double figure kills in five straight matches.
Jessie Hartman led the TexAnns with 21 assists while Barker added 15. Barker also led the team with 14 digs.
Behind Barker was Covell and Emily Klein with 11 digs each and Harrell added 10.
Tarleton will host Midwestern State at 1 p.m. Saturday for Trick or Treat Day. Fans are encouraged to wear Halloween costumes,
