SAN ANGELO – The Tarleton women's volleyball team defeated Texas A&M-International Saturday morning before falling to St. Edward's in the afternoon. For the second straight tournament, Nikki McNorton was named to the all-tournament team.
In game one, the TexAnns dominated the DustDevils three games to one. TAMUI won the first set 25-19 before Tarleton took then final three sets (25-13, 25-22, 25-21).
Breawn Waynes and Flynn Harrell both had 11 kills in the match, while Stacie Murrah and McNorton added six apiece. Jessie Hartman contributed 26 assists, with Danielle Barker adding 15 more.
Defensively, Lacy Hodges led the team with 17 digs and Audra Vaello had six blocks (2 solo, 4 assisted).
In game two, Tarleton fell to St. Edward's 3-2 after rallying from two games down to tie and force a fifth set. The Hilltoppers escaped with a 15-12 victory in the final game.
The TexAnns had four players record double-digit kills, led by Ashley Rine's 13 total. Barker had 27 assists, while Hartman added 24.
Tarleton also had five players record double-digit digs, with Barker's 17 leading the way.
The TexAnns posted a .120 hitting percentage compared to St. Edward's .148 mark.
McNorton was named to the all-tournament team for the second straight weekend, after being named to the all-tournament team at the St. Mary's Invitational last week.
Tarleton returns to Stephenville for their first home game of the year, when they host Eastern New Mexico Thursday, Sept. 15 at 7 p.m.
