- Box Score

WICHITA FALLS – The Tarleton volleyball team traveled to Midwestern State Saturday afternoon to take on the Mustangs and rallied for a 3-2 victory over MSU.

The Texans won their fifth straight contest and their third road game of the week.

Tarleton got off to a fast start and won the first set 25-18.  Midwestern State would counter though with identical 25-14 wins in sets two and three.

With the TexAnns down in a 2-1 hole, head coach Mary Schindler sparked her team to wake up and it worked.

The fourth set was back-and-forth with both teams battling for position.  Tarleton got off to an early 8-0 lead, but the Mustangs rallied back to tie the game at 21-21.  The TexAnns got the last laugh though and escaped with a 27-25 win.

With the momentum in its favor, Tarleton controlled the fifth and final set, taking a 15-10 victory and a 3-2 match win.

Flynn Harrell led the offense with 18 kills, followed by Katie Covell, who contributed 11 more.  Emily Klein had a breakout performance with 23 digs, a team-high.  Four other TexAnns had double-digit digs.

Jessie Hartman had 25 assists, while Danielle Barker had 22 assists.  Harrell also added four blocks defensively (three assisted, one solo).

As a team, Tarleton hit a .102 attack percentage and held the Mustangs to a .123 mark.

The TexAnns improve to 9-5 on the year and 5-1 in Lone Star Conference play.

Tarleton returns to action next weekend when they head to Topeka, Kan. for the Washburn Classic.
