STEPHENVILLE - The No. 5 Texans will host Eastern New Mexico for the second to last home game of the season on Wednesday at 8 p.m. in Wisdom Gym.  Tarleton defeated the Greyhounds earlier this season, 55-52 in Portales.  In the all-time series, Tarleton leads 28-7.

LAST WEEK
The Texans (21-3, 12-2) had their longest and toughest game of the season in Wichita Falls just two days ago when they fell to No. 7 Midwestern State in a triple-overtime thriller.  It marked the second top 10 match-up for Tarleton this season and despite three late comebacks that forced the ovetimes, the Texans came up just short.  Fabian Wilson and Wes Dipprey both had double-doubles to lead Tarleton.

THIS YEAR
On the season, Tarleton is shooting 47.4 percent from the floor, 31.4 percent from three-point land and 70.7 percent from the charity stripe.  The Texans are averaging 70.2 points per game and 36.0 rebounds per game.

HOLDING OFF OPPONENTS
Opponent's are shooting just 36.7 percent overall and averaging 55.8 points per game against the Texans.  Tarleton is No. 1 in the nation in points allowed and field goal percentage allowed.

STATISTICAL LEADERS
Chris Harrell leads the Texans with 13.0 points per game while Fabian Wilson adds 12.0 points and 7.0 rebounds per game.  Shedrick Haynes is contributing 10.8 points and 3.5 assists to Tarleton's effort and Wes Dipprey is chipping in 6.6 points and 5.8 boards.

SIZING UP THE OPPONENT
Eastern New Mexico has struggled as of late, but is still fighting for a spot in the Lone Star Conference tournament which means they are dangerous.  The Greyhounds are 13-10 on the season and 6-8 in LSC play.  Their biggest downfall is that they are 0-7 on the road in league play this season.

STOPPING THE GREYHOUNDS
Overall, ENMU is averaging 74.7 points per game and giving up 71.7 points to opponents.  That makes for the No. 7 scoring margin in the conference at +3.0.
As a team, the Greyhounds are shooting 45.2 percent from the floor, 34.0 percent from three-point range and 67.0 percent from the charity stripe.  ENMU is also being out-rebounded by opponents, but committing fewer turnovers.

WHO TO LOOK FOR
Reggie Nelson is the reigning LSC Offensive Player of the Week and coming off a season-high 35-point performance at ACU.  On the season, Nelson is leading the team with 16.2 points per game.  Maurice McGee is adding 12.2 points while Stefan Mirabal is scoring 11.3 points each contest.
Nelson is the LSC's No. 2 leading scorer, No. 2 in free throw percentage and No. 1 in three-point percentage (.444).

AMONG THE BEST
The Texans are ranked near the top of almost every statistical category in the conference.
Tarleton is No. 1 in scoring defense (55.8 ppg) and No. 1 in scoring margin (+14.4).  The Texans are also No. 1 in field goal defense (.367), No. 2 in three-point field goal defense (27.2) and No. 2 in rebounding defense (30.3).
Individually, Chris Harrell is No. 11 in scoring (13.0 ppg), while Fabian Wilson is No. 3 in rebounding (7.0) and No. 7 in blocks (0.8).  Shedrick Haynes is No. 7 in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.2) as well as No. 7 in assists (3.5). Harrell and Coleman Furst rank in the top four in free throw percentage.

NO. 1 DEFENSE
Tarleton finished the 2010-11 season as the No. 1 defense in the nation.  That was not only at the Division II level, but also in Division I, III and Junior College ranks.
This year's team has big shoes to fill, but has held opponents in check thus far as opposing offenses have averaged just 55.8 points per game.  That is good enough for No. 1 in the nation again at the DII level.

REMAINING IN THE RANKINGS
Tarleton was ranked No. 8 in the NABC/NCAA Division II Preseason Polls and No. 1 in the Lone Star Conference Preseason poll.
The Texans are now No. 5 in the nation and No. 2 in the LSC standings.

UPCOMING SCHEDULE
The Texans will continue on their three LSC games in six days as they take on Eastern New Mexico Wednesday and West Texas A&M on the road Saturday.

The Texans have already clinched a spot in the 2012 Lone Star Conference tournament set in Allen.  This marks the 13th time in 15 seasons that Tarleton will make the trip.
