STEPHENVILLE - The No. 5 Tarleton Texan basketball team will host Arlington Baptist at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9 in Wisdom Gym.

Tarleton is coming off a hard-fought game against Incarnate Word last Saturday and will look to rebound against the Patriots on Thursday.  The Texans are 20-2 overall this season and 12-1 in Lone Star Conference play.

Entering the week, Tarleton remained in the national rankings at No. 5 despite the end to their 17-game winning streak.

The Texans will host Arlington Baptist, who has also played Angelo State and Abilene Christian this season.  Little is known about the Patriots, but Tarleton expects Arlington Baptist to show up ready to play as this will surely be their biggest game of the season.

As a team, Tarleton is averaging 69.6 points per game and giving up just 54.7 points per game, which is No. 1 in the nation.  The Texans are shooting 48.0 percent from the floor, 33.4 percent from three-point range and 69.8 percent from the free throw line.

Chris Harrell leads the team in scoring with 13.4 points per game, while Fabian Wilson and Shedrick Haynes contribute 11.4 points each.  Wilson also leads Tarleton with 6.7 rebounds per game.  The Texans are committing fewer turnovers than opponents and out-rebounding them by 5.9 boards a game.

Tarleton is 15-1 at home this season with their only loss coming early on against Washburn.  Since that game, the Texans have won 12 straight in the friendly confines of Wisdom Gym.

Within the LSC, Tarleton is No. 1 in scoring defense, scoring margin and field goal percentage defense.

Thursday is Dollar Admission Night with fans getting in for just $1.  It will also be Autograph Night with the Texan basketball team signing pictures for fans after the game.
