Texans hoping to bounce back following Saturday's loss to UIW.

STEPHENVILLE - The Tarleton Texans (8-3, 2-2 LSC) return home to host the Cameron Aggies (7-5, 3-3 LSC) in Lone Star Conference action this Wednesday, Jan. 9 at Wisdom Gym in Stephenville. Tip-off between the two squads is set for 8 p.m.

Wednesday's game is "Dollar Night" at Wisdom Gym. All fans attending Wednesday can get into the game for just $1. All items inside the concession stand will be just $1 as well!!
 
QUICK HITS
• Tarleton is coming off a 72-67 road loss to Incarnate Word on Saturday.
• The loss snapped a four-game winning streak for the Texans.
• The Texans, despite playing in just two games on the road this season, are still winless when playing away from Wisdom Gym.
• The Aggies are coming off a 65-59 road win over Abilene Christian this past Saturday.
• CU has won two-straight heading into Wednesday's game.
• The Aggies have not won more than two consecutive game this season.
 
SERIES HISTORY
• Tarleton leads the all-time series 19-10 after defeating the Aggies in both games last season.
• The Texans bring in a two-game win streak over the Aggies, with its last loss coming back on Nov. 27, 2010. Tarleton fell 48-44 to the Aggies on the road.
• The Texans are 12-1 when playing the Aggies inside Wisdom Gym.
• Tarleton is 19-6 under head coach Lonn Reisman.
 
SCOUTING THE AGGIES
• Head coach Wade Alexander is in his fifth season at the helm of CU basketball program.
• Prior to taking over at CU, Alexander served as assistant coach at ECU.
• In the 2011-12 season, Alexander guided the Aggies to their second consecutive winning season and also guided the team to its first post-season game since 1993 in the Lone Star Conference Tournament.
• The Aggies upset Incarnate Word in the first round of the tournament, 77-70, in overtime. CU then fell 59-50 to eventual LSC Tournament Champions, Midwestern State.
• The Aggies are shooting 46.8 percent from the field as a team. CU shoots 33.7 percent from beyond the arc and 65.3 percent from the charity stripe.
• CU's Craig Foster, who was named LSC Offensive Player of the Week back on Dec. 20, currently ranks 33rd in the nation with 5.3 assists per game. He also ranks 40th in the nation with a 42.3 three-point field goal percentage.
• Foster leads the squad with a 16.1 points per game average. Tim Johnson follows averaging 9.9 points per contest.
 
STILL LOOKING FOR FIRST ROAD “W”
• The Texans fell to 0-2 on the road this season after falling 72-67 to Incarnate Word on Saturday.
• Tarleton has now dropped three-straight games when playing away from Wisdom Gym, which includes the 64-63 overtime loss to Arkansas Tech on a neutral court.
• The road schedule does not get any easier for the Texans, which hit the road again this Saturday, Jan. 12 against Midwestern State (6-0 in the LSC) at D.L. Ligon Coliseum in Wichita Falls.
 
HOME SWEET HOME
• The Tarleton Texans are 325-57 (.851) overall when playing inside the friendly confines of Wisdom Gym under head coach Lonn Reisman.
• The Texans have posted a record of 199-24 (.892) at home under Reisman since the year 2000.
• Since joining NCAA Division II, Tarleton is 252-43 (.854) all-time at home.
 
TEXANS PICKING UP THE “D”
• Tarleton headed into it's game at Angelo State ranked 219th in the nation in field goal percentage-defense, allowing opposing teams to shoot 45.5 percent from the floor.
• Following its game with the Rams and a home game against ACU, the Texans moved to 110th in the nation allowing opponents to just 41.7 percent shooting from the field.
• Since the last NCAA rankings came out on Dec. 16, Tarleton ranked 104th.
 
MORE DEFENSE FOR THE TEXANS
• The Texans ranked 46th in the nation in scoring defense when the NCAA released its first set of national rankings back on Dec. 2, allowing opponents to score 62.4 points per contest.
• Tarleton ranked 14th in the nation in scoring defense on Jan. 6, allowing opponents to score just 59.7 points per contest.
• The Texans head into Saturday's contest at Incarnate Word now giving up just 58.5 points per outing.
 
PEGUES NOTCHES NEW CAREER HIGH
• A'Darius Pegues (F, Jr, Louisville, Ky.) scored a career-high 12 points in Tarleton's 64-53 win over Henderson State back on Dec. 18.
• The big man upped that career-high by a point on Wednesday, scoring a new career-high 13 points in Tarleton's 52-46 win.
• He had 11 points at the break, going 5-for-7 from the field over the first 20 minutes.
 
UPCHURCH KEEPS SCORING
De'Andre Upchurch (G, Jr, Flint, Mich.) scored double-figures for the eighth time this season with 10 points in Tarleton's 52-46 win over TAMUK.
• Upchurch, despite not starting a game for the Texans, is second on the team with an 11.4 points per game average.
 
BLOCK THIS, WITH CATHEY-MACKLIN
Jon Cathey-Macklin (F, Jr, Milwaukee, Wis.) tied a career-high with a three-block game on Wednesday. It is the second time  this season that Cathey-Macklin has three rejected shots in one game.
• Cathey-Macklin currently leads the team with 16 blocks this season. He currently leads the LSC with 1.45 blocks per game.
• He ranks 74th in the nation in the same category.
 
GIVING A HELPING HAND
Chuck Guy (G, Jr, Fort Worth) dished out a game-high seven assists in Saturday's loss to the Cardinals.
• Guy has three games with five-plus assists so far this season.
 
CARTER CONTINUES TO LEAD LSC
Davene Carter (F, So, Duncanville) leads the league in field goal percentage shooting 87.5 percent from the floor over the course of the first 10 games this season.
• Carter is shooting .157 points better than WTAMU's Donald Sims, who currently ranks second in the LSC with a 71.8 shooting percentage.
 
NATIONALLY SPEAKING
• When the newest national statistical rankings came out on Jan. 6, Tarleton ranked in the top-100 in six different categories.
• The Texans ranked 14th in scoring defense, allowing opponents to score just 59.7 points a game.
• Tarleton ranked ranked 83rd in scoring margin, averaging 6.9 more points than its opponents.
• Tarleton ranked 78th in field goal percentage defense, giving up just 40.9 from the floor to opposing teams this season.
• The Texans rank 24th in the nation in blocked shots, averaging 4.6 blocks per game as a team.
 
HOW THE LSC IS STACKING UP SO FAR
• The Texans were picked to win the LSC. Tarleton currently sits in a tie for third-place in the conference at 2-2.
• MSU, who was picked to finish second, leads the league with a 6-0 mark in conference games.
• WTAMU's Donald Sims was named the LSC's Preseason Player of the Year; he currently ranks 5th in scoring (14.9 ppg), first in rebounds (8.3 rpg) and second in field goal percentage (.718).
 
OPENING UP THE LSC SCHEDULE
• Tarleton dropped its LSC opener for the first time since Jan. 14, 2009 with its five-point loss to Angelo State on Wednesday.
• The Texans are now 12-7 in LSC openers since joining the league in 1994.
 
TEXANS PICKED TO WIN LSC
• The Texans were selected to defend its LSC Championship, earning the No. 1 ranking in the preseason poll released by the league office on Oct. 25, 2012.
• Tarleton received 12 of a possible 29 first-place votes in the poll.
• Midwestern State received 12 first-place votes in the poll as well, but Tarleton took the top spot earning 269 total points to MSU's 262.
 
TEXANS DEBUT 2012-13 SEASON AT NO. 17 IN NABC PRESEASON POLL
• The Texans finished the 2011-12 campaign at No. 9 in the nation and head into the new season at No. 17 according to a preseason poll released by the NABC on Nov. 2.
• Tarleton was the highest ranked LSC team in the preseason poll. MSU debuts at No. 23 in 2012-13 after finishing No. 5 last season.
• Including the 2012-13 campaign, Tarleton has been preseason ranked inside the top-25 seven times.
 
TARLETON IN SEASON-OPENERS
• Tarleton snapped a 10-game winning streak in season openers after falling 73-60 to Southwestern Assemblies of God in the 2012-13 opening game. Tarleton fell to 21-4 in season-openers under coach Reisman.
• Tarleton's last loss in a season-opener had come back in 2001 against Wingate (73-83).
 
REISMAN AMONG WINNINGEST ACTIVE COACHES IN NATION
Lonn Reisman entered the 2012-13 season with a .702 winning percentage, which ranks 12th overall among active coaches in NCAA Division II.
• Reisman's .702 winning percentage ranks 26th overall among active coaches in both NCAA Division I and II.
 
TEXANS RANKED NO. 1 IN DEFENSE LAST SEASON
• The Texans finished the season ranked No. 1 overall in scoring defense for a second-straight year after allowing opponents to just 56.3 points per game in 2012-13. The Texans allowed just 53.3 points to finish no. 1 in 2010-11.
 
UP NEXT
• The Texans will not have long to get back used to playing at home as the team hits the road again this Saturday, Jan. 12, facing Midwestern State at D.L. Ligon Coliseum in Wichita Falls.
• Tip-off between the Texans and Mustangs is set for 6 p.m. .
• Tarleton will play on the road again next Wednesday, Jan. 16, as the team travels to Portales, N.M., to face Eastern New Mexico.
