LAST TIME OUT
The TexAnns were swept last Saturday by the No. 10 ranked Angelo State Rambelles, falling for the second time over the last three games. No TexAnn recorded double-figures in kills for the first time this season.
EARLY SEASON MATCHUP
This is the second time this season that Tarleton State and Dallas Baptist have squared off. The two teams met on September 7 to open the second day of the Angelo State Invitational tournament with Tarleton handing DBU a sweep.
Kaitlyn White and
Stacie Murrah led the team with 10 kills each while
Danielle Barker amassed 36 assists against the Patriots.
SERIES HISTORY
Tarleton has dominated the all-time series against DBU, improving to 34-6 against the Patriots with the win earlier this season. The series dates back to 1982 when the teams met in Dallas and Tarleton handed the Patriots a sweep in the first-ever meeting. The TexAnns have won nine of the last 11 meetings, dating back to 2003.
SCOUTING THE PATRIOTS
This will be just the second home game for Dallas Baptist since Sept. 14. DBU has played 10 of its last 11 on the road. The only home game in that span was a sweep of St. Edward's on Oct. 3. The Patriots have won four straight - beginning with the sweep of SEU.
IN THE NATIONAL SPOTLIGHT
After her 20-dig performance against Angelo State last weekend,
Emily Klein has moved up to No. 16 in the nation in digs per set with 5.47 per set. Also cracking the nation's top 25 is
Danielle Barker, who is currently No. 22 with 10.73.
BARKER'S QUEST TO BE TARLETON'S TOP SETTER
Danielle Barker continued her climb toward the top of the all-time TexAnn assist list last Saturday, adding 24 more assists to her total tally. She has 633 assists this season and 2,759 for her career. She is 507 assists from tying her former teammate Jessie Hartman as Tarleton's all-time leader in school history.
KLEIN INCHES CLOSER TO LISTER
With 1,375 career digs,
Emily Klein is now just 88 digs shy of tying Sharon Lister for second on the all-time digs list. Lister, who played at Tarleton from 1996-99, held the all-time record in digs until Shea McBrearty became the all-time leader in 2010.
MURRAH EYES 1,000 CAREER KILLS
Senior outside hitter
Stacie Murrah improved her season kill total to 189 last weekend, bringing her to 931 in her four-year career. Murrah needs just 69 more kills to become the seventh TexAnn ever to amass 1,000 career kills.
UP NEXT FOR TARLETON
The TexAnns return to Stephenville for two games this weekend - Texas Woman's Friday night and Texas A&M-Commerce Saturday afternoon. Friday night's game will be Pink Out night at Wisdom Gym.
