Box Score DALLAS - Tarleton volleyball got back in the win column Tuesday night with a four-set victory over Dallas Baptist, snapping the Patriots four-game winning streak.
In the opening set, Tarleton fell behind by as many as five points and trailed by four on several occasions midway through the game before a
Katie Covell kill sparked the TexAnns at 12-15.
The Covell kill was the first point in an 8-4 Tarleton run to tie the score at 19-19 before back-to-back errors by the Patriots gave Tarleton a 21-19 advantage. The TexAnns ended the set on a 4-2 run with
Kaitlyn White landing a kill and
Stacie Murrah landing two, including the game-winner.
Dallas Baptist dominated the second set from the get-go, building a 16-6 lead early on. Tarleton battled and outscored the Patriots 13-9 over the rest of the set but could not dig out of the early deficit.
Tarleton handed the Patriots a taste of their own medicine in the third set, jumping out to a quick 12-5 lead.
DBU pulled to within two, however, and trailed 16-19 late in the set but
Danielle Barker landed a kill off a pass from
Emily Klein to snuff out the Patriot run and silence the comeback attempt. The teams split the next 10 points, which was enough to give Tarleton the third-set victory.
The TexAnns wasted no time in the final set, handing Dallas Baptist a 25-14 loss to secure the match. The game was close at 12-8 but Tarleton ended the match on a 13-6 run capped off by a Covell service ace.
After having her string of 11 straight double-figure kill games snapped last Saturday, Murrah started a new streak in a big way with 17 kills to lead the TexAnns. White added 10 kills of her own.
Barker recorded her team-leading eight double-double of the season with 43 assists and 21 digs while Klein, the nation's 16th-ranked leader in digs, led the team with 24.
Kelsey Raglin and
Lacy Hodges each had 13 digs also.
Tarleton will return home this weekend for a Friday night match against Texas Woman's at 6 p.m. in Wisdom Gym. Friday night is Pink Out night in Wisdom Gym.
