Box Score PORTALES, NM – Tarleton's 12 game winning streak against Eastern New Mexico came to an end Saturday night as the TexAnns fell to the Zias in straight sets.
This is the first loss Tarleton has suffered to the Zias since head coach
Mary Schindler's first meeting against ENMU on September 29, 2005. That was also a sweep in Portales.
The Zias got off to a strong start with a 6-0 run to begin the match before
Kelsey Raglin got the TexAnns on the board with a kill. Eastern New Mexico responded by extending its lead to 18-7.
A service error cut the Tarleton deficit to 8-18 and started a furious TexAnn rally that brought the Tarleton to within four at 17-21. Over that 9-3 Tarleton run, the TexAnns got kills from
Danielle Barker,
Jasmyne Brown,
Kaitlyn White and
Emily Klein.
Tarleton couldn't inch any closer than 21-17 as Eastern New Mexico ended the set on a 4-1 run to win 25-18.
In the second set, Tarleton fell behind early but rallied back to bring the set to an even 11-11. A Tarleton error, however, put the Zias back on top for the last time in the set as the Zias outscored Tarleton 14-8 down the stretch to take the set.
Tarleton worked with its first lead of the match to begin the third set, building it to as much as 5-3. The Zias answered, however, with a 16-11 run to take a 19-16 lead late in the set.

Jazmine Green kill started a 7-4 Tarleton run – capped off by a
Stacie Murrah kill – to bring the game to a 23-23 tie. ENMU got back-to-back kills, though, to take the sweep.
Tarleton committed 24 attack errors while hitting just .163 compared to Eastern New Mexico's .319 hitting percentage and only six attack errors. Green (13) and Murrah (12) led the team in kills while
Emily Klein (16) and
Katie Covell (12) cracked double figures in digs.
Danielle Barker recorded a double-double with 38 assists and 14 digs on the night. Her 38 assists brings her 83 assists shy of tying Jessie Hartman for the school's all-time record.
Tarleton will travel to Canyon for a 2 p.m. match against West Texas A&M tomorrow.
