TexAnn volleyball falls in sweep at No. 6 West Texas A&M

Katie Covell and the TexAnns were swept at No. 6 West Texas A&M Saturday.
Box Score CANYON – Tarleton was swept for the second straight day after falling in straight sets to No. 6 West Texas A&M Saturday afternoon.

Errors were the downfall of Tarleton again as they committed 26 offensive attack errors, compared to just 12 from West Texas A&M. This brings their total to 50 attack errors over the last two days.

Tarleton was hanging with the Lady Buffs through the first 16 points as the TexAnns were trailing just 6-10, but West Texas A&M put together an 11-4 run to take a 21-10 lead over Tarleton. They eventually finished out the opening set with a 25-15 win.

In the second set, Tarleton rallied and maintained a slim lead halfway through the set after a Stacie Murrah kill put Tarleton up 15-12. The TexAnns extended the lead to 18-16 before WT ended the set on a 9-2 run to take the set.

Tarleton battled to stay even with the sixth-ranked Lady Buffs through the first 30 points, as a Danielle Barker kill brought the score to 15-15. WT answered again and pulled away late, however, with a 10-1 down the stretch to secure the match.

Murrah led the TexAnns with 11 kills while Jazmine Green was the next highest hitter with seven kills. Barker led the team with 25 assists while Klein added 14 digs to lead the team.

Tarleton has one more road game in the regular season this Tuesday as they visit Texas A&M-Commerce before returning home next Saturday for senior day against Angelo State.
