THE GAME
Tarleton State returns to Stephenville Saturday evening to host Texas A&M-Kingsville at 6 p.m. for the annual Homecoming Game.

COVERING THE GAME
Saturday's contest will be aired on the brand-new Tarleton Sports Network presented by North Texas Ford Dealers. The game will be broadcasted live on KTRL (90.5 FM) with Casey Hogan calling play-by-play and Andrew Hansen joining him for color commentary. Keltin Wiens will provide reports from the sideline for the broadcast team. The game can also be found online at www.tarletonsports.com/listenlive.

LAST TIME OUT
Tarleton dropped its third consecutive games with a 53-25 loss on the road at Texas A&M-Commerce. The Texans fell behind 24-3 after the opening quarter against the Lions and couldn't pull of the comeback en route to their third straight loss last weekend.

GAME HISTORY: GAME NO. 5
Tarleton State is 2-2 in Game 5's under Coach Fowler. It was in the fifth game of the season of Fowler's inaugural season (2010) that the then-rookie head coach notched his first career win against Angelo State. On Oct. 2 in Stephenville on the night in which the Texans honored the family of their fallen brother, Zach Shaver, Fowler earned his first head coaching win with a 37-34 comeback victory over the Rams at Memorial Stadium.

TARLETON vs KINGSVILLE
This is the 28th meeting in the all-time series between Tarleton State and Texas A&M-Kingsville, dating back to 1970, and the Javelinas own the all-time advantage in the series 20-7.

IN THE SERIES
In the first 18 meetings between the two teams from 1970 until 2005, the Javelinas – who were primarily under their former moniker of Texas A&I - racked up 16 of their wins over that time span. A 26-0 Tarleton shutout on Oct. 7, 2006 started a run of five Texan wins over the last eight years, including the 57-56 double overtime win in Kingsville in 2009.

QUEST FOR LSC WIN NO. 100
Since moving into the NCAA in 1994, Tarleton State has won 99 conference games. The next win against a Lone Star Conference opponent will be NCAA conference win No. 100 in Tarleton football history.

RUSHING TO A FAST START
Tarleton State ran the ball 51 times against West Texas A&M for 298 yards on the ground. That is the most rushing yards for the Texans since Sept. 22, 2012 against Eastern New Mexico in Stephenville when the Texans ran for 324 yards on 48 attempts. With 167 rushes to just 150 pass attempts this season, Tarleton is on pace to have more rush attempts than pass attempts for just the second time under Fowler - joining the 2012 time that ran 401 times and passed 399.

TARLETON'S SCORING STREAK
The Texans have now scored a touchdown in 41 straight games dating back to the 2010 season. The last time a Tarleton team was held without a TD came in a 65-3 loss to Abilene Christian back on Sept. 25, 2010. Tarleton has scored at least a field goal or touchdown in 49 straight games heading into Saturday's game. The Texans have not been shutout since Nov. 8, 2008.

RECORD TRACKER: CLIFTON RHODES III
Clifton Rhodes III is on pace to become one of the best wide receivers to ever don the purple and white. Entering Saturday's game, here is where he stands on his way to Tarleton history:
• With 2,422 yards, Rhodes is 192 yards away from passing Devin Guinn as the school's all-time receiving leader. Guinn, who played from 2006-09, is the current record holder with 2,613.
• With 181 career receptions, Rhodes is 8 catches away from breaking a 44-year old school record. Tarleton Hall of Fame member Harlan Wunsch, who played from 1967-69, has held the record for the previous four decades with 188 career receptions.
• With nine career 100-yard receiving games under his belt, Rhodes is two 100-yard receiving games away from passing Devin Guinn (10) for the all-time lead.

RECORD TRACKER: BLAKE BARNES
In just his junior season, Blake Barnes is making a case to go down alongside Tarleton Hall of Famer J.W. Boren as two of the top kickers in Tarleton history.
• With eight attempts through the first four games, Barnes now has attempted 48 field goals in his career to move into second-place all-time by passing Paul Williams (2004-06) with 47.
• Entering Saturday's game with 36 career field goals, he is five makes away from passing Williams for second all-time (40). Barnes is 24 field goals away from becoming the all-time leader and passing Boren (59).
• He is also approaching the top-two marks in PATs behind Williams and Boren in attempts and made field goals.

DEFENDERS ON RECORD PACE
Tarleton State has had only three Texans top the 100-tackle in a season plateau since 1999 and, through two games this season, there are already three Tarleton defenders on pace for triple-digit stops. Devin Figures leads the team with 51 tackles while Marc Martinez (48) and Charles Moore (42) are close behind. Only Michael Jackson (100; 2001), Ken Jones (111; 2003) and Marquis Wadley, who did it twice in 2011 (119) and 2013 (126), have topped 100 tackles in a season since the turn of the century.

ON THE FENCE OF .500
Last week's loss dropped the overall football record of Tarleton State to 457-458-33 for an all-time winning percentage of .500. Tarleton was 194-170-30 as a junior college and are currently 263-285-3 all-time as a senior college program. Fowler's all-time record also dropped to 23-23 with last week's loss.

SNAPPING THE SKID
Tarleton State is currently looking to snap out of a three-game losing skid for just the third time in Fowler's tenure. The Texans have not lost four straight games since the first four games of Fowler's career to start the 2010 season.

TARLETON ON HOMECOMING
The Texans are 29-24 overall when playing Homecoming contests since becoming a senior college in 1961. Tarleton has lost three Homecoming games since 2010, including each of the last two.

JAVS ON HOMECOMING
From Tarleton's first year as a senior college in 1961 through 2009, the Texans and Texas A&M-Kingsville never met on Tarleton's Homecoming weekend. Since the 2010 season, however, Saturday marks the third time in the last five years in which the Texans and Javelinas have met for Homecoming in Stephenville. Tarleton is 0-2 against Kingsville on Homecoming in Stephenville.

UP NEXT FOR TARLETON
Tarleton will hit the road for a battle of last year's LSC Championship teams. The Texans and Eastern New Mexico Greyhounds will kick off at 7 p.m. CST / 6 p.m. MST.
