Abilene Wylie's Mack first high school standout of TexAnn 14-15 recruiting class

STEPHENVILLE - The first high school signee of the Misty Wilson era has agreed to join the TexAnn Basketball program next season as Averie "Punkin" Mack becomes the newest recruit for Tarleton.

"Averie is a phenomenal athlete," said Wilson. "She does a great job of conditioning herself and taking care of her body to prepare for this level. She is going to be a player that can do it all. She can get to the rim, shoot off the dribble and she will definitely be able to defend with her speed and quickness. I look forward for having Averie for four years and seeing how she progresses and develops as a player."

Mack comes to Tarleton after a stellar four-year career at Abilene Wylie High School after guiding her teams to the state tournament in three of her four season seasons - two of which ended in state championships.

After earning the District MVP award as a junior, Mack followed up with a senior campaign in which she averaged 10.4 points, 6.6 rebounds and 3.6 steals per game while shooting 46 percent from the floor.

She wrapped up her senior season by being named all-state, the District Defensive MVP and Regional Tournament MVP as well as earning her second all-region selection.

The high school standout joins a pair of junior college transfers, Bailey Wipff and Nyariak Duop, as the newest members of the TexAnn basketball team.
