Former Tarleton State Women’s Basketball guard Jakoriah Long signs pro contract in Portugal

STEPHENVILLE, Texas – Former Tarleton State Women's Basketball guard Jakoriah Long will take her talents overseas, signing a professional contract with Remax Evora Andre Resende in Portugal.

Long is the third Tarleton State alum under head coach Bill Brock to sign a pro contract following graduation. She joins Teresa De Silva and Alani Fluker as former Texans playing overseas.

The Waco, Texas, native once again served as the Texans' leading scorer after obtaining an extra year of eligibility. She earned her second All-WAC career honor, being named to the All-WAC Second Team. Having 19 double figure scoring games, Long led the team with 49 made 3-pointers and averaged 11.7 points per game in her last year.

Long finished her career fifth in career 3-pointers made (131), seventh in career 3-point percentage (.379) and 14th in career free throw percentage (.781). She became the 23rd 1,000-point scorer in program history, accomplishing that feat on Feb. 26, 2026.

Serving as the leading scorer on the team in two of her three seasons, Long was the first Texan in the Division I era to post two consecutive 25-point games. She was also the first Texan since the 2013-14 season to post back-to-back games with at least 25 points (Kiara Wright, Feb. 5-8, 2014). Being the first Texan in the Division I era to have back-to-back games with six or more 3-pointers, Long was the first Tarleton State player since the 2011-12 season to have two consecutive games with six or more 3-pointers.

Under Long's leadership, Tarleton State accomplished several firsts at the Division I level. She anchored the 2023-24 team to the program's first conference tournament victory at the Division I level, with the Texans making their first conference tournament semifinals the following year. Long was instrumental in helping the Texans obtain a bid to the WNIT in 2025, the Texans' first postseason appearance at the Division I level.

Remax Evora Andre Resende competes for national championships in Portugal in the first division. The club recently stood out for rising to the Liga Betclic Feminina, the top level of women's basketball in Portugal. This historic climb was achieved after the Eborense team became the champion of the CN1 Feminina.

Tarleton State has picked up over 1,000 wins as a senior college, with the Texans obtaining the program's 1,000th win on Jan. 31 earlier this year. The Texans made their second straight WAC Semifinal after an upset win over Utah Valley. Tarleton State returns four letterwinners from the previous season, including starting guard Caroline Lyles

The Texans will host three camps starting June 15 at the EECU Center this summer, with registration starting at just $80. More information and sign ups can be found at www.tarletonwbbcamp.com.
