Big South champion, High Point transfer Olivia Medford joins Tarleton State Women’s Basketball

STEPHENVILLE, Texas – Tarleton State Women's Basketball added the second Division I transfer to its 2026-27 roster, with High Point transfer Olivia Medford signing with the Texans.

Medford was part of the 2026 Big South champion team at High Point that qualified for the NCAA Tournament this past year. The redshirt senior is a former NJCAA All-American.

"Liv brings immediate maturity and experience to our basketball team," head coach Bill Brock said. "She has been involved with winning programs and understands what is needed on a daily basis to create a winning culture. Liv can play any of our perimeter positions and her basketball IQ will greatly benefit our younger players. She is very excited to become a member of the Texan Family, and we are looking forward to her arrival on campus for summer school."

Arriving at High Point during the 2024-25 season, Medford played in 14 games and scored 27 points before suffering a season-ending injury. Medford recorded a season-high five rebounds against Guilford on Nov. 7, 2024 before scoring a season-best nine points on Jan. 22, 2025 against USC Upstate.

Starting her college career at Monroe College, Medford was one of the top JUCO players as a freshman in 2021-22. She was named NJCAA Region 15 Player of the Year, NJCAA All-American and earned NJCAA Honorable Mention honors in her first year at Monroe. Medford led the team in scoring (12.8 points per game) and steals (1.7 steals per game) while finishing second on the team in rebounds (6.9 rebounds per game). The Rockville Centre, New York, native posted four double-doubles and scored in double figures 14 times.

As a sophomore at Monroe, Medford once again led the team in scoring at 12.6 points per game. Scoring in double figures 21 times, Medford had five games with at least 20 points. She recorded a season-high 26 points against Raritan Valley Community College and posted a 23-point, 10-rebound double-double against Harford Community College.

Tarleton State has picked up over 1,000 wins as a senior college, with the Texans obtaining the program's 1,000th win on Jan. 31 earlier this year. The Texans made their second straight WAC Semifinal after an upset win over Utah Valley. Tarleton State returns four letterwinners from the previous season, including starting guard Caroline Lyles

Medford is the Texans' fourth signee from the transfer portal for the 2026-27 season, joining guard Stephany Gonçalves (Eastern Arizona), center Lesline Penge (Cochise College) and forward Brooklyn King (Furman). They join Tarleton State's four returning letterwinners as well as high school signees Kendall Ford and Alayna Yates.
