LAST TIME OUT
Tarleton suffered a 63-0 loss at the hands of No. 18 Texas A&M-Commerce on Family Weekend in Stephenville last Saturday. The Texans lost quarterback Zed Woerner to injury on the second play of the game, which ultimately put Tarleton into offensive troubles. The Texans amassed 216 yards of total offense on 59 plays.

TARLETON vs TEXAS A&M-KINGSVILLE
Saturday marks the 29th meeting all-time between Tarleton and Texas A&M-Kingsville, formerly Texas A&I. The Texans trail the all-time series 8-20, dating back to the inaugural meeting in 1970.

INSIDE THE SERIES
Tarleton and Texas A&M-Kingsville have a 45-year-old rivalry that has been primarily controlled by the Javelinas. After losing the first three meetings, Tarleton defeated the Javelinas for the first time on Oct. 27, 1973 with a 34-33 victory in Stephenville. Kingsville answered by winning 13 of the next 14 meetings through 2005, which included a 19-year hiatus from 1975 to 1994. Since a 23-0 win by Tarleton on Oct. 7, 2006, the Texans have had a 6-4 edge in the series, which includes one of the most historic wins in school history - a 57-56 double overtime win in Kingsville in the 2009 NCAA playoffs. Tarleton has won the last two against Kingsville.

TEXANS UNDER FOWLER
The Texans are now 27-29 under head coach Cary Fowler and have one Lone Star Conference championship to their credit in his tenure. Fowler's first LSC championship is the third LSC championship for the Texans in school history. Fowler is 23-21 against LSC opponents and 4-8 overall against non-conference schools.

TEXANS IN THE LSC
The Texans are 102-140 (.424) all-time in Lone Star Conference contests.

TRYING TO TURN AROUND 0-4 START
Since Tarleton became a senior college in 1961, the Texans have gone through 12 different 0-4 starts to a season including this season. There have three such starts as an NCAA instituion (1998, 2010, 2015). Of the 11 previous skids, Tarleton has stopped four of them at 0-4 by earning a win in game five.

AMONG THE NATIONAL LEADERS
•  Tarleton is 19th in the nation in third down conversion percentage with 47.5%.
•  Tarleton is 13th in net punting at 38.9 yards per punt this season.
•  Tarleton boasts the No. 19-ranked passing completion percentage (.631) in the nation.

VARNADO ON A ROLL
Chase Varnado has recorded at least five tackles from the defensive end position in five straight games and six of the last eight games, dating back to Oct. 18, 2014.

MEMORABLE WIN IN FIVE
The last time Tarleton started the season 0-4, the Texans snapped the skid with a win in game five in what would go down as one of the top emotional wins in school history. Having started the 2010 season 0-4, the Texans rallied from behind to defeat Angelo State 37-34 in Stephenville to give Cary Fowler his first career win as a head coach on the night the Texans honored their fallen brother Zach Shaver before and at halftime of the game. Tarleton has not had a 5-game losing streak since 1998.

• Receiving Yards: Meyers enters Saturday's game in need of 548 more yards to crack the top five all-time in school history. Jeremy Madkins (2003-06) holds the No. 5 position with 2,441 yards.
