STEPHENVILLE - Tarleton State tennis wrapped up action against East Central University Wednesday afternoon with a 7-2 win over the Tigers at the Potishman-Lard Tennis Courts to claim their sixth win of the season.

"We played a good match today against East Central," said Tarleton tennis coach
Lance Drake. "(East Central) has a unique style of play that can be frustrating at times, but I'm very pleased with the sweep during doubles and that we were able to finish strong in singles play to clinch the match."

Tarleton would sweep East Central in doubles play to take an early 3-0 lead.

The No. 1 pair of
Luiza Ferraro-Adas and
Ashleigh Elward (9-8) would battle through 17 combined points for the first win on the day, while the No. 2 pair of
Gabriella Jansson and
Ellie Stevens and No. 3 pair of
Erika Richarme and
Ariadna Cabezas-Marti would earn wins of 8-3 and 9-7, respectively.

In singles play, Tarleton would drop the No. 1 and No. 4 matches as Richarme and Stevens would fall 6-4, 4-6, 6-10 and 5-7, 2-6, respectively.

Tarleton would win the No. 5 and No. 6 matches in convincing fashion as Jannson (6-4, 6-1), and Cabezas-Marti (6-3, 6-0), would win by a combined score of 24-8.

Elward (6-3, 6-2) and Ferraro-Adas (4-6, 6-4, 10-8) would round out the day for the TexAnns winning the No. 2 and No. 3 matches, respectively.

Tarleton tennis will return to action April 10 in the opening match of Lone Star Conference play against Cameron University in Stephenville.
