ÂORLANDO, Fla. – Tarleton tennis won its second straight match by downing Ferris State 5-4 on Sunday at the Lake Crane Tennis Center in Orlando, Florida.

The TexAnns, who improved to 7-2 on the season, opened up doubles play with an 8-4 win from
Luiza Ferraro-Adas and
Elena Preadca.
Erika Richarme and
Ashleigh Elward dropped their first doubles match of the season in a tight 9-8 (7-3) battle. The duo won an impressive eight consecutive matches to start the season. Ferris took the final doubles match 9-7 over the No. 3 tadem of
Shelby Fillingame and
Ellie Stevens.

Tarleton would take the momentum in singles play to ultimately pull away for the win. Elward took the No. 1 match 6-4, 6-4 while Richarme won the No. 2 match 4-6, 6-3, 11-9. Ferraro-Adas made it three straight singles wins for the TexAnns by edging her opponent 6-3, 6-2. Ferris State won the fourth match 6-2, 6-4 but Preadca put the TexAnns back in the win column with a 6-4, 6-1 win in the No. 5 match. Ferris State took the No. 6 match 6-1, 6-2 over Taylor Porter.
"It was a tough match but the girls stepped up and showed great effort and we were able to change the momentum," said graduate assistant coach

Tarleton will continue its stay in Florida with a pair of matches against Alderson Broaddus and Creighton on Tuesday, March 8.
