MELBOURNE, Fla. – Tarleton dropped its third straight match Sunday afternoon when the TexAnns fell 5-3 to Florida Tech.
"Both teams really battled today," said head coach
Lance Drake. "We couldn't overcome some errors and some questionable decisions at times. For us to take the next step forward, we need to find a way to rise to the occasion in these tough matches."
Tarleton took the advantage after doubles play when the TexAnns won the No. 1 and 3 matches.
Elena Preadca and
Luiza Ferraro-Adas handled the No. 1 match quickly with an 8-1 score while
Tori Simmons and
Alicia Barbaroux took care of the No. 3 match 8-5. In singles, however, Barbaroux was the only TexAnn to earn a win as the freshman from France defeated Erin Ergoroff 6-2, 6-2 in the No. 4 match to improve to 7-3 in singles action this season.
