WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Tarleton wrapped up its run through Florida Tuesday afternoon with a 5-4 win over Palm Beach Atlantic.
 
"We played another close match today and it was something we really needed after letting one slip away Sunday," said head coach Lance Drake. "We still have plenty of areas to improve on but I'm proud of the way the team dug in and fought today."
 
The afternoon started with Palm Beach taking the No. 2 and 3 doubles matches and were on the verge of completing the doubles sweep with a 7-2 lead in the No. 1 match, but Elena Preadca and Luiza Ferraro-Adas battled back to win seven consecutive games to win the top-seeded match 9-7 and give the TexAnns some momentum heading into singles.
 
After PBA started singles with a win in the No. 5 match to push its lead to 3-1, Erika Johnston (6-1, 6-2) and Ferraro-Adas (6-4, 6-1) evened up the match with wins in the No. 1 and No. 6 matches. Alicia Barbaroux was the next to finish with a 6-3, 6-1 win in the No. 4 spot to put Tarleton on top of the match 4-3.
 
Palm Beach Atlantic pulled off a three-set victory in the No. 3 match to tie the match at 4-4 and leave everything up to Preadca and Valerie Nagovitcina in the No. 2 match. Tarleton's Preadca polished off a thrilling 6-3, 5-7, 7-6 (7-3) win to cap off the win for the TexAnns.
 
"Elena and Luiza were down 7-2 in doubles, but played really well and won seven straight games to give us a much-needed win in doubles," said Drake. "Tied 4-4 in singles, Elena played a hard-fought match that went down to the wire. She got into the tiebreaker and played a really solid tiebreaker. We needed to find a way to win these close ones and the team got it done. It was a good way to end our Florida tour."
