The Tarleton Volleyball team will make a western road trip this weekend

The Tarleton Volleyball team (13-9, 7-5 LSC) will make a western road trip this weekend, competing on Thursday night at 7 p.m. in Odessa against UT Permian Basin before heading out to Western New Mexico on Saturday.

LAST TIME OUT
Tarleton is coming off a 1-2 week with a win over UT-Tyler.
 
Tarleton fell in four sets (25-14, 15-25, 22-25, 17-25) to West Texas A&M on Tuesday in the Wisdom Volleyball Gym. Tatyana Tuialii-Umi led the Texans with 10 kills. Tarleton hit .121 for the match while WT (14-4) hit .210.
 
Despite a valiant rally from a 2-0 deficit, Tarleton fell to No. 23 Texas A&M-Commerce in four Friday night. Amber Strange and Tuialii-Umi led the way with 17 kills each.
 
Three players enjoyed double-digit kill performances, led by 16 from Strange, as Tarleton held off a pesky UT Tyler team in five sets Saturday in Wisdom Gym.
 
NATIONAL SPOTLIGHT
Tarleton Volleyball received votes in this week's American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) poll. 
 
The Texans are one of three LSC teams in the poll, joining Angelo State (18) and Texas A&M-Commerce (23).
 
THE OPPONENT: UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS-PERMIAN BASIN
The Texans and Falcons last met in 2018, where Tarleton fell to UTPB in Odessa, 2-3. The Texans lead the all-time series 9-6 and holds the advantage on the road, 3-2. UTPB enters the match 16-5 on the season with a 8-4 mark in conference play. 
 
THE OPPONENT: WESTERN NEW MEXICO
The Texans and Mustangs last met in 2018, where Tarleton swept Western New Mexico in Silver City, 3-0. The Texans lead the all-time series 9-8 and holds the advantage on the road, 3-2. Western New Mexico enters the match 5-15 on the season with a 3-9 mark in conference play. 
 
UP NEXT FOR TARLETON
Tarleton returns home next weekend for a set of LSC match-ups. First, the Texans will battle Texas A&M-International on Friday, November 8th at 6:00 p.m. On Saturday, Tarleton will face Texas A&M-Kingsville at 2:00 p.m. Saturday's matchup will be a Max Point Game (500 points) on the Texan Fan Rewards App.
