Texan Basketball Game Day: Lone Star Conference Tournament

Texans host UT Permian Basin in Wisdom Gym for chance to advance to Frisco

THE GAME
No. 7-seed Tarleton will open the Lone Star Conference Championship Tournament at home against No. 10-seed UT Permian Basin on Tuesday, March 3 at 7 p.m. in Wisdom Gym. Admission to Tuesday's game is FREE for everyone. Reserved season ticket holders will still have their seat for the game. This marks the 19th straight season the Texans have made the LSC Tournament – the longest active streak in the LSC. The winner of Tuesday's game will take on No. 2 seed St. Edward's on Friday, March 6 at 2:30 p.m. at the Comerica Center in Frisco.
 
REGULAR SEASON RECAP
Tarleton Men's Basketball finished the regular season with a 17-11 record overall and tied for seventh in the LSC standings at 13-9 under second-year head coach Chris Reisman. The Texans average 74.9 points and hold teams to 69.6 points. The Texans went 10-5 at home and 6-5 on the road. Josh Hawley led the Texans with 15.4 points and 9.5 rebounds while Randall Broddie added 11.3 points per game. Clashon Gaffney paced the Texans with a .658 field goal percentage and blocked 1.9 shots per game.
 
TICKET INFORMATION
Tickets are available through Ticketmaster outlets and Ticketmaster.com, as well as the Comerica Center box office. Single-session tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students. Fans can save $15 off the regular price for all-session passes and avoid fees by making an on-campus advance purchase at LSC member institutions. The all-session ticket grants access to all seven sessions at a reduced rate of $45. The all-session price increases to $60 for those not purchased through LSC schools by March 4. Tarleton will also sell discounted tickets in Stephenville this week. LSC Tournament all-session and single session tickets will be sold for a discounted price at the Wisdom Gym Ticket Office Monday through Wednesday. The ticket office will remain open after Tuesday's men's basketball play-in game and all day on Wednesday from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Fans can also call 254-968-1832 to purchase over the phone.

The Voice of Texan Basketball, Casey Hogan, will have the call on the flagship station of Tarleton Athletics – KTRL 90.5 FM in Stephenville – and worldwide at TarletonSports.com/ListenLive. All 11 games will be streamed live free of charge through the LSC Digital Network at www.lonestarconferencenetwork.com. In addition to being available on computers and mobile devices, the network is also available via OTT on Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, Android TV and Roku by searching for "LSC Digital Network".

TARLETON IN THE TOURNAMENT
Tarleton has qualified for the Lone Star Conference postseason tournament 22 times since their first trip to the league postseason in 1997. It is also the 19th straight season that Tarleton has qualified, which is the longest active streak of any men's team in the LSC. The Texans have an overall record of 30-18 in 48 games at the LSC Tournament with their .630 winning percentage ranking fourth among active LSC teams in the tournament. The Texans are three-time tournament champions (2004, 2013-14).

Josh Hawley is climbing the all-time leaderboard in several categories and is close to moving up another spot:
• Points: 1,565 (4th all time); Needs 162 points to pass Marshall Procter for 3rd place.
• Rebounds: 952 (3rd all time); Needs 59 rebounds to pass Marshall Procter for 2nd place.
• Steals: 166 (3rd place); Needs 2 steals to pass Collat Johnson for 2nd place.
• Blocks: 138 (3rd place); Needs 6 blocks to pass Vincent Bridgewater for 2nd place.
• Double-Doubles: 38 (2nd place); Needs 6 to pass Danny Jones for 1st place.
 
UP NEXT FOR TARLETON
The Texans need to win Tuesday vs. UT Permian Basin to advance to Frisco for the eight-team bracket at the Comerica Center. If the Texans win, they will take on No. 2-seed St. Edward's on Friday, March 6 at 2:30 p.m.
