Tarleton Sports Network to debut new duo for basketball broadcasts, Crews and Christopher

STEPHENVILLE, Texas – Each of the Tarleton basketball programs will have a new voice in 2022-23, as the Tarleton Sports Network announced its broadcast team for the upcoming season.

Kyle Crews will transition from the women's side to the men's team this year as their new play-by-play man for all 31 regular season games. Jimmy Christopher, brand-new to the Tarleton Sports Network, will be the main play-by-play broadcaster for the women's basketball team.

Crews has been a common mainstay on the airwaves for years, calling Tarleton women's basketball games since 2016, while also providing play-by-play calls for Texan Women's Soccer, Volleyball, Softball, along with select games for Tarleton Baseball. Since joining the Tarleton Sports Network, Crews has called hundreds of events, including Tarleton WBB's 2017 Lone Star Conference championship run and NCAA Division II tournament games.

Crews graduated from TCU in 2015 with degrees in sports broadcasting and journalism, getting plenty of experience on the side in Fort Worth. He was the primary color commentator and the No. 2 play-by-play man for TCU Baseball's College World Series runs in 2015 and 2016. He also served as an associate producer on the TCU Sports Network for nine years, a station that the Associated Press voted as best play-by-play in the state seven times during his tenure.

"I would like to thank Lonn Reisman, Billy Gillispie and Dr. Hurley for this incredible opportunity," Crews said. "Getting an opportunity to deliver the action to the most passionate fan base in college basketball is truly an honor and challenge I will attack every day.

"I also want to thank the Tarleton women's basketball program and their head coach Misty Wilson," Crews said. "The past six years provided memories that I will never forget and an experience I'm extremely thankful for."

Along with his new broadcasting duties, Crews will still handle sponsorship fulfillment with advertising partners and alumni engagement for Tarleton Athletics.

Jimmy "The Saint" Christopher is a radio veteran with decades of radio and sports broadcasting experience. Since 1996 he has been a sports reporter and host covering the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers, Dallas Mavericks, Dallas Stars, high school football, golf and NASCAR for 105.3 The Fan, Texas State Networks and 96.7 The Ticket.

Since 2017, Christopher has been the voice of Texas Wesleyan Football and host of their First & 10 Show with head coach Joe Prud'homme. From 2013-22, Christopher was the play-by-play voice for UT Dallas Men's and Women's Basketball, Baseball and Softball. In 2013, Christopher did fill-in play-by-play duties for UT Arlington Men's Basketball, and in 2012, he was the voice of the UMHB Crusaders. From 2005-07, he broadcasted the NBA D-League's Fort Worth Flyers, along with championship runs with minor league baseball's Frisco Roughriders and the Pioneer League's Orem Owlz. He has also called hundreds of high school football games across Texas.

In 2002, Christopher was the PA Announcer for the Texas Rangers and was the sideline reporter for SMU Mustangs Football from 1999-2005.

Both Crews and Christopher will begin their new roles in each team's respective season openers, Nov. 7 for MBB at Arizona State and Nov. 9 for WBB vs. Arlington Baptist.
