STEPHENVILLE, Texas — Tarleton State Athletics is giving the community a Christmas present with free admission, ornaments, and a ZOOperstars! halftime performance on Monday night as the Texan men's basketball team hosts CUSA's Jacksonville State in Tarleton's final home athletic contest of the 2023 calendar year at 7 p.m. in Wisdom Gym.
Tarleton State Men's Basketball is off to its best start since the 2018-19 season, posting an 8-2 record in its first 10 games. The Texans are also 2-0 in WAC play for the first time in program history. The Purple and White have not lost in December as part of their current six-game winning streak, their longest in the D1 era. The Texans will take on Conference USA's Jacksonville State in their final game of the WAC x CUSA scheduling initiative. The WAC has won five of its six matchups so far this season, including Tarleton's 82-65 victory earlier in the season in Miami against FIU.
Tarleton State athletics has greatly felt the fan support this year in its fourth season as a Division I program. In a gift of thanks, Tarleton Athletics is giving the community an extra fun night of basketball. All fans can attend the game free of charge. The first 100 early-arriving fans will be gifted a Tarleton branded Christmas ornament.
At halftime, the world-famous ZOOperstars! will put on a halftime performance to remember. The family-friendly inflatable act will feature sports legends with ironic names. The ZOOperstars! will meet with fans in the stands in the second half and after the game for the perfect photo opportunities.
Monday night will also feature Tarleton faculty and staff appreciation night. All Tarleton faculty and staff will be given free popcorn from Sodexo with proof of valid Tarleton ID. All local area teachers, faulty and staff will also receive free popcorn as well with proof of teacher ID. Sodexo will be gifting all fans with $2 hot dogs all game long.
