CORVALLIS, Ore. – Tarleton State Men's Golf competes in the Oregon State Invitational at Trysting Tree Golf Club for the third consecutive season on Monday through Tuesday.

The Texans will be one of 13 teams competing, with host school Oregon State clinching last year's tournament title. Tarleton State finished in third place at the 2022 Oregon State Invitational in just its second event as a Division I program. The Oregon State Invitational is the only fall event the Texans have competed in every season since reinstating the program in 2022-23.

Entering its third year of NCAA Division I after bringing back the program, Tarleton State combined for one individual medalist, one All-WAC selection along with 11 individual top 10 finishes in 2023-24. Tarleton State welcomes back its three letterwinners who finished in the top 10 individually at the 2024 WAC Championship (Cristobal Sepulveda - T-5th, Carson Gallaher - T-5th, Alvaro Huidobro - T-10th).

In addition to facing competition from nine different conferences, Tarleton State will get its first look at WAC opponents Seattle U and Utah Valley. The Texans have already competed against WAC competitors Southern Utah and Utah Tech earlier this season.

Tarleton State's five-man lineup consists of three returning letterwinners (Huidobro, Sepulveda, Gallaher) and two newcomers (Juan Ballester, Kellen Young). The Texans will go with the same five-man lineup for the third consecutive event.

Huidobro led the Texans in their last event at the Mark Simpson Invitational last week, shooting 6-under-par for 14th place individually. Shooting an even par in round one and following that up for a season-best 4-under-par 68 in the second round, the Spaniard completed play with five birdies to obtain a two-under par 70 in the final round to push him in the top 15. Huidobro collected his fifth career top 20 finish and reached the top 10 in program history in the Division I Era for lowest 36-hole score (140) and 54-hole score (210).

Gallaher shot a season-low 1-under-par 215 54-hole score at the Mark Simpson Invitational, which included a pair of 2-under par rounds.

Freshman Kellen Young cracked the Tarleton State lineup for the third consecutive tournament. The Midland, Texas, native shot a 4-under-par 68 in the first round of the Mark Simpson Invitational and compiled a total 54-hole score of 218. Young's first round of 68 matches the lowest score for a round by a Tarleton State freshman in the Division I Era.

Tee off Monday's first and second round will begin with a shotgun start at 10:15 a.m. CT and have continuous play for 36 holes. Tuesday's final round begins at 10:30 a.m. CT with a shotgun start. Live scoring will be provided through GolfStat.
