Tarleton Women’s Basketball continues WAC homestand against Utah Tech Saturday

STEPHENVILLE, Texas – Tarleton Women's Basketball looks to move up in the WAC standings on Saturday, taking on Utah Tech at Wisdom Gym at 2 p.m. 

The game will be available to watch on ESPN+ and fans can listen to Clayton Neville's radio call on Tarleton Sports Network. Neville will have a 30-minute pregame show starting at 1:30 p.m. and a 30-minute postgame show will follow each game. 

MATCHUP NOTES
  • Tarleton and Utah Tech will meet for the fifth time in program history. Utah Tech leads the series 3-1, but Tarleton won the last matchup 76-60. 
  • The Texans have won five out of their last six games while the Trailblazers are looking for their first win since Nov. 30. 
  • Arieona Rosborough is averaging 24 points per game in WAC play and is the first Tarleton player since 2017 to record two straight 20-point games through the first two conference games. 
PEAK PERFORMER 
  • Rosborough has five 20-point games this season, most recently scoring 20 points against Southern Utah (1/9). Scoring a season-high 28 points in the previous game at UT Arlington (1/4), she is the first Tarleton player in the Division I Era to have back-to-back 20-point games in the Texans' first two conference games. She is the first player since 2017 to have two consecutive 20-point games in her first two conference games (Mackenzie Hailey). 
  • She had her first double-double at Arkansas State (12/19), finishing with 22 points to go with 10 rebounds. The senior guard also had seven assists, three dimes shy of the program's second triple-double and first since 1982. 
  • Following a 20-point outing against Nicholls (12/30), Rosborough was named to the Fleur-De-Lis All-Tournament Team at the 2024 Big Easy Classic. 
  • In just her second game, Rosborough scored a season-high 21 points at Arizona (11/7), the second 20-point performance against a Power 4 conference opponent in program history. 
  • She earned a plethora of honors at UMHB, including three times being named ASC All-Conference First Team, ASC Player of the Year, and ASC Defensive Player of the Year. 
  • She played 80 career games (74 starts) for the Cru, averaging 15.1 points and eclipsing the 1,000-point mark by scoring 1,210 career points.  

FANTASTIC FREEBIES
  • Tarleton has made great use of its opportunities from the charity strike this season, hitting 75.7% of their free throws as a team. The Texans are in the top 50 in the nation in free throw percentage and lead the WAC in that category. 
  • Tarleton made a perfect 10-of-10 from the free throw line against St. Mary's (TX). It is the first time in the Division I Era Tarleton has shot 100% from the charity strike (min. 10 attempts). It is the first time since Jan. 4, 2018 the Texans were perfect from the free throw line in at least 10 attempts (14-of-14, vs. Angelo State).
  • Tarleton shot 16-for-17 from the free throw line for 94.1% against Southern Utah (1/9). It was the second game this season Tarleton has shot 90% or better from the charity strike off at least 10 attempts. 
  • The Texans had three straight games between Nov. 26-30 where they have shot at least 81% from the free throw line. Tarleton went 2-1 during those games and made 39-of-45 free throws for 86.6%. 
  • Tarleton shot 10-of-12 from the free throw line in the third quarter for 83.3% against Nicholls (11/30). They went on to go 17-for-19 from the charity strike, shooting 89.5%. It was the first time since Jan. 11-19, 2023 the Texans have had three consecutive games shooting at least 81% from the free throw line. 
  • Tarleton made a season-high 27 free throws against Texas State (12/4) and had 22 made free throws against New Mexico State (12/16).

FAREWELL TO WISDOM
  • The 2024-25 will mark the final basketball season played at the historic, 3,000-seat Wisdom Gym. The Texans are currently 7-1 on its home floor. 
  • Built in 1970 for a cost of $1.3 million, Wisdom Gym has been the home of Tarleton State Basketball for over 50 years. Over that time, the gym has become home to All-Americans, ALL-WAC selections, Conference Champions, Conference Tournament Champions, College Insider.com Tournament games, NCAA Regional Tournaments, and NCAA Sweet 16 games.
  • Also housing the women's volleyball gym, indoor turf training facility, weight room, athletic training facility, athletics coaching offices, Hall of Fame, trophy cases housing years of Tarleton's athletic kinesiology department.
