STEPHENVILLE, Texas – Tarleton State Women's Basketball goes on a two-game road swing in Utah this week, taking on Utah Tech Thursday at 8 p.m.
The Texans are coming off a 79-54 win over I-20 rival Abilene Christian at Wisdom Gym last week, with senior guard
Miannah Little dropping a career-high 24 points. Little was named the WAC Player of the Week on Monday.
The game will be available to watch on ESPN+ and fans can listen to Clayton Neville's radio call on Tarleton Sports Network. Neville will have a 30-minute pregame show starting at 7:30 p.m. and a 30-minute postgame show will follow each game.
MATCHUP NOTES
- Tarleton State and Utah Tech will meet for the sixth time in program history. Utah Tech leads the series 3-2, but the Texans have won the previous two matchups.
- Knocking down a season-high 12 3-pointers, Tarleton State tasted victory over Utah Tech 74-65 on Jan. 11 at Wisdom Gym in the two's last meeting.
MIANNAH MAKES
- Senior guard Miannah Little has been named Western Athletic Conference Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday.
- Little is the first Tarleton State player this season to earn a weekly award from the WAC. She is the first Texan to earn the conference's weekly honor since Jan. 2, 2024.
- Little scored a career-high 24 points and made six 3-pointers for 60% beyond the arc shooting against ACU (1/23). She is the first Tarleton State player in the Division I Era to hit six 3-pointers in a game and the first since Kaylee Allen (6 vs. West Texas A&M, Jan. 19, 2019).
- Averaging 17.5 points per game over her last two games, Little has scored in double figures six times this season. In addition to her performance against ACU, Little led the Texans with 17 points off the bench to lift Tarleton State to a come-from-behind win at Houston Christian on Nov. 26.
- Prior to her arrival in Stephenville, Little was a NJCAA First Team All-Conference guard at McLennan Community College. Pairing with Tarleton State head coach Bill Brock, Little and McLennan Community College went 28-5 during the 2022-23 season. The Highlassies made history with Little, reaching 20 wins for the first time since 2013-14 and receiving one of eight at-large bids to the NJCAA Division I Women's Basketball Championships.
LEADERS OF THE WAC
- Tarleton State currently leads the conference in four categories: Field Goal Percentage Defense (37.6%), Free Throw Percentage (74.6%), and Rebounding Margin (7.4).
- The Texans are currently second in the WAC in Bench Points per Game (22.8), Rebounds Per Game (38.9), Scoring Defense (57.5) and Three Point Percentage Defense (28.7%).
- Tarleton State is third in the WAC in Free Throws Made Per Game (11.3) and Offensive Rebounds Per Game (13.3).
- Predicted to finish sixth in the WAC in the preseason poll, Tarleton State entered conference play in fourth place with a 9-6 record. They have the third-most non-conference wins in the WAC.

- Tarleton State has made great use of its opportunities from the charity strike this season, hitting 74.6% of their free throws as a team. The Texans are in the top 100 in the nation in free throw percentage and lead the WAC in that category.
- Tarleton State made a perfect 10-of-10 from the free throw line against St. Mary's (TX). It is the first time in the Division I Era Tarleton State has shot 100% from the charity strike (min. 10 attempts). It is the first time since Jan. 4, 2018 the Texans were perfect from the free throw line in at least 10 attempts (14-of-14, vs. Angelo State).
- Tarleton State was a perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line against ACU (1/23). It is the second time this season the Texans have shot 100% from the charity strike off 10 or more attempts (Dec. 7 vs. St. Mary's).
- The Texans had three straight games between Nov. 26-30 where they have shot at least 81% from the free throw line. Tarleton State went 2-1 during those games and made 39-of-45 free throws for 86.6%.
- Tarleton State made a season-high 27 free throws against Texas State (12/4) and had 22 made free throws against New Mexico State (12/16).
