LAWRENCE, Kan. — Tarleton State Women's Golf posted their best finish of the fall campaign so far with a fourth-place performance at the Powercat Invitational at Colbert Hills Golf Course.
 
The Texans used a second-round surge to propel themselves into the top five and not look back. After finishing the first round in seventh place, the Texans leapt three spots to claim fourth at the conclusion of round two. Tarleton State shot the third best second round amongst the field, with a +16, 304. The Purple and White maintained their fourth position in the final round to lead to their best finish as a team this fall.
 
"I am so proud of the way the team fought weather conditions this week," said head coach 
Isabel Jimenez. "We had some up and downs but we leave the event looking forward to the final event of the fall season and motivated to have our best finish yet."
 
Lou Deltombe was the Texans best performer on the two days. Deltombe notched her second top 15 finish of the fall campaign. The senior opened with a one-over par, 73 to finish the first round in the top five. She posted a 79 and a 77 on her final two rounds to finish tied for 12
th with a 13-over par, 229.
 
Natalia Fiel Ros turned in her best performance of the fall so far with her first top 15 finish as a Texan. Fiel Ros shot her bet round of the fall coming on her second 18 holes. The sophomore carded a three-over par, 75 on the second round of the invitational. She ended placing 15
th overall shooting a 15-over par, 231 in her return to Manhattan, Kan. Fiel Ros and Deltombe each notched 33 par scores, tying for the fourth most in the field.
 
Rebeca Fernandez turned in her best finish of the fall, tying for 40
th overall. She opened with an 83 followed by a 78 and an 80 to card a 25-over, 241. Freshman 
Gina Chen was the only Texan to shoot even par or better in a single round with a second-round score of even par, 72. She finished the 54 holes at 26-over par, to tie for 42
nd.
 
After playing the first two rounds, 
Darianys Guzman withdrew before the third and final round.
 
For the second straight year, Kansas State won the team title. A year after winning the inaugural Powercat Invitational, the Wildcats repeated as champions by over 20 strokes. On the individual side, the Wildcats swept the top three. Nanami Nakashima was the only golfer in the field to shoot under par, finishing at five-under par.
 
Tarleton State will close out their fall campaign at The Clash at Boulder Creek hosted by Northern Arizona next week. The Texans will play at Boulder Creek Golf Course to close out the month of October opening on Oct. 27 in Henderson, Nev.
