Tarleton State Women’s Basketball takes on Seattle U Saturday

SEATTLE – Tarleton State Women's Basketball continues its WAC road trip this week, taking on Seattle U at the Redhawk Center on Saturday at 3 p.m.

With Seattle U set to join the West Coast Conference next season, Saturday's meeting will be the final regular season matchup between the Texans and the Redhawks.

The game will be available to watch on ESPN+ and fans can listen to Clayton Neville's radio call on Tarleton Sports Network. Neville will have a 30-minute pregame show starting at 2:30 p.m. and a 30-minute postgame show will follow each game.

MATCHUP NOTES
  • Tarleton State and Seattle U will meet for the ninth time. The series is tied 4-4 and the Texans won the last matchup in Stephenville 77-46 just nine days earlier.
  • Erasing the Seattle U's chances of advancing to the conference tournament, Tarleton State clinched a conference tournament berth last year with the win at Seattle U.
  • The Texans are one win away from the Division I Era record for single season wins.
LETTING LONG LOOSE
  • After dropping 25 points in back-to-back games last week, Tarleton State Women's Basketball senior guard Jakoriah Long has been named WAC Player of the Week. Long was also named to the NCAA's Starting 5 for Week 15, given to the top-performing players in Division I women's basketball.
  • The senior guard set a new Division I Era single game program record with seven made 3-pointers in Thursday's game against Seattle U, scoring a season-high 25 points in the process. Long had an encore performance on Saturday against Utah Valley, hitting six 3-pointers and scoring 25 points to lead the Texans to a come-from-behind win over the Wolverines.
  • Long is the first Texan in the Division I Era to post two consecutive 25-point games. She is the first Texan since the 2013-14 season to post back-to-back games with at least 25 points (Kiara Wright, Feb. 5-8, 2014).
  • She also became the first Texan in the Division I Era to have back-to-back games with six or more 3-pointers. She is the first Texan since the 2011-12 season to have two consecutive games with six or more 3-pointers (Peyton Adamson, Jan. 11-14, 2012).
  • Long scored 18 points in Thursday's game at Grand Canyon, her fourth game in a row where she has scored at least 18 points.
BENCH BOOST
  • Tarleton State's bench scored 20+ points for the 11th time against Seattle U (2/6), having 20 points from non-starters.
  • Tarleton State's bench outscored GCU's bench 19-13 on Thursday. It is the third straight game where the Texans' bench has scored at least 19 points.
  • The Texans have a record of 8-3 when the bench scores at least 20 points in a game.
  • Tarleton State is 7-3 under head coach Bill Brock when the Texans have at least 30 bench points.
  • The Texans scored 37 points against St. Mary's (TX) (12/21) and also grabbed 31 of Tarleton's D1 record-setting 59 rebounds.
  • Tarleton State's bench scored a season-high 56 points to help the Texans to the 99-34 win over LeTourneau (12/7). It is the most bench points by the Texans since Dec. 4, 2021 (70 vs. Arlington Baptist).
  • Freshman guard Grace Booth recorded her first collegiate double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds off the bench against LeTourneau (12/7).
TURNING DOWN THE TURNOVERS
  • When Tarleton State limits its turnovers, the results speak for themselves: they win.
  • The Texans had only seven turnovers at Southern Utah (2/1), its lowest mark of the season. It was the fewest turnovers in a game by a Tarleton State team since Feb. 29, 2024 (six vs. Utah Tech).
  • Tarleton State has four games this season where they have committed 10 turnovers or less, having a 3-1 record in those games.
  • The Texans are fourth in the WAC in turnovers per game, helping them into a top-four spot in the standings.
