I am proud of the way the team fought especially during the third round," said coach Jimenez. "Even though we struggled a bit during first day, the girls pulled their weight today and we were able to climb up two spots on the leaderboard. With the second tournament in the books, there are a lot of positives as well as good feedback on what we need to work on improving. "

As a team the Purple and White tied for fifth overall shooting an 889, 25 over par. The Texans carded their first team round even or under par shooting a 288, an even par final round. Tarleton State finished higher than the only other WAC program at the event, Utah Valley, who finished eighth.

After the first 18 holes she found herself in third overall, shotting the first under par round of the season for the Texans, two under par. She closed the first day after the next 18 holes in ninth place, three over. On the final day, Chen carded another two under par, 70 to finish seventh overall in her second competition as a Texan. Overall, Chen shot three under par on the 15 par 5's across the three rounds, tied for the best among all players in the field.

"Our freshman, Gina, had a great tournament overall," said Jimenez. "She posted her first two under par rounds and her first top 10 finish as a Texan. I am very proud of the way she played this week. I know she is a good player with lots of potential, and I am very excited to continue seeing her progress as a Texan."
