Tarleton State Women’s Basketball wraps up Utah road trip at Utah Tech Saturday

ST. GEORGE, Utah – Tarleton State Women's Basketball wraps up its Utah road trip with a Saturday matinee at Utah Tech, facing the Trailblazers at 2 p.m. at Burns Arena. 

The Texans won their 1,000th game as a senior college in the last meeting at Utah Tech on Jan. 31, defeating the Trailblazers 63-45. Senior guard Jakoriah Long scored 20 points in the Texans' last outing, her third 20-point game of the season. Long is 24 points away from hitting 1,000 career points.

LETTING LONG LOOSE
  • Tarleton State Women's Basketball senior guard Jakoriah Long is a scoring threat for the Texans, averaging over 13 points per game in conference play and over 10 points per game overall last year. She was named to the All-WAC Second Team in 2024-25 and Preseason All-WAC Team entering 2025-26.
  • Long knocked down her 100th 3-pointer in addition to 19 points at CBU (1/3), moving into the top 10 on the program's all-time career threes list.
  • She needs three more to pass Shea Kester (1998-2002) for fifth on the program's all-time career 3-pointers list.
  • Long had a season-high 24 points to lead the Texans to a come-from-behind win against Southern Utah (2/7). Her 24 points helped the Texans erase an 18-point deficit, the biggest comeback by the Texans in the Division I era.
  • Long had her first Division I double-double earlier this year, pouring in 11 points and a career-high 10 rebounds in Tarleton State's double overtime win over Houston Christian (11/9).
  • The senior guard set a new Division I Era single game program record with seven made 3-pointers twice last season.
  • Long is the first Texan in the Division I Era to post two consecutive 25-point games. She is the first Texan since the 2013-14 season to post back-to-back games with at least 25 points (Kiara Wright, Feb. 5-8, 2014).
  • She also became the first Texan in the Division I era to have back-to-back games with six or more 3-pointers. She is the first Texan since the 2011-12 season to have two consecutive games with six or more 3-pointers. 
PEAK PERFORMER 
  • Tarleton State signed former All-WAC First Team player Gia Adams this past season. Adams currently leads the Texans in scoring and assists. 
  • She scored her 1,500th career point at ACU (2/3), becoming the only active player in the WAC to have that feat. 
  • Tarleton State has now had two straight seasons with a player who has had five 20-point games in a season. Arieona Rosborough had five 20-point games in 2024-25. 
  • Adams was named to the ACU Christmas Classic All-Tournament Team, averaging 22.5 points and eight assists per game. 
  • Adams was named to the 2023-24 All-WAC First Team at UT Arlington before transferring to North Texas. The Cypress, Texas, native was the Texans' first transfer to sign with the Texans. 
  • Averaging 14.5 points per game in her junior season at UT Arlington, Adams led the Lady Mavs in scoring and was the third-leading scorer in the WAC during the 2023-24 season. The Dave Campbell's Honorable Mention All-Texas guard won four straight WAC Newcomer of the Week honors and registered six 20-point games in a UTA uniform. She dropped a season-high 30 points at CBU, the eventual 2024 WAC Champions.
  • Adams spent her first two seasons at Tennessee State and had one of the best seasons by a Tennessee State freshman in the program's history, averaging 12.9 points per game en route to winning the OVC Freshman of the Year award.
