NEW BRAUNFELS, Texas — This past fall,
Louise Depadt missed nearly every event due to injury, but she opened the Tarleton State Women's Golf spring slate with individual title and the lowest round in program history and the lowest 54-hole card in program history at the Texas State Invitational at Landa Park Golf Course.
Depadt claimed the individual crown in her return to the course for the Texans. In her spring debut after missing the last four events of the fall, Depadt shot a program-best 205 to win the individual crown, her third as a Texan. She owned the previous 54-hole record with a 206 at the WAC Championships a year ago. Last season, she won a pair of individual crowns, the 2025 Fresno State Invitational and the WAC Championship.
"I am super proud of Louise's performance this week," said head coach
Isabel Jimenez. "She just came back from a knee injury, and what she did during this tournament is unbelievable. She is a fighter, in every way, and the performance shows.
The Texans posted their best finish as a team in the 2025-26 season. The Purple and White placed second overall, shooting nine-over par. Tarleton State was the only team to shoot under-par in the opening round, carding four-under par. After the first two rounds, the Texans were one of two teams to end the first day under-par shooting two-under. On the final day, after struggling in the front nine, the squad pulled back into second place with 11 birdies.
"On day 1 our team put up a good fight," said coach Jimenez. "Lou broke her personal best, and Louise tied her personal best, making a big difference. Day 2, we had a very slow start, but thankfully the team pushed through to maintain second place. We have some things to keep on working on before the next event, but we look forward to continue competing this spring season."
On the first day, the program's single round low was tied in the first round and broken in the second.
Lou Deltombe opened on Monday in the first round making seven birdies and shooting a six-under par, 66. Deltombe recorded a birdie in five of six holes spanning from hole 13 to hole 18. With her collegiate best 66, Deltombe tied teammate Depadt's record of 66 she set at the 2025 WAC Championships last season. Later that day, Depadt reclaimed sole possession of her record. Depadt recorded an eight-under, 64, to set the new Texan single round record. She tallied seven birdies and an eagle on the fourth round.
Depadt shot one-under, 71, in her final round. She shot all three rounds even or better for the fifth time in her career. It marks the second time that she shot under par in each round, matching the feat from the Fresno State Invitational. Depadt led the field with 16 birdies. She also led shooting nine-under par on par 5 holes.
Deltombe entered the final round in second place shooting six-under in the first two rounds. She carded a 79 on the final round to finish ninth overall. The senior totaled a 217, just one-over par to place ninth overall.
Natalia Fiel Ros opened with a 75 followed by a second round 77. In her final round she shot 75 to tie for 36
th overall.
Rebeca Fernandez carded a 74, 77 and 82. She finished 15-over par shooting a 331 to tie for 39
th place.
Gina Chen started off strong with a 74 opening round. But after an 83 in round two, she dropped in the leaderboards. After a rough opening to her third round she strung together three birdies on holes 12-14 and ran off five birdies in six holes to finish her 54 holes at 231 tied for 41
st place.
Texas State took home the team title powered by under-par second and third rounds. The Bobcats finished as the only team under par at their home course, 17-under par. The Texans shot nine-over par to place second, two strokes ahead of Houston Christian. The Huskies shot 11-over par.
Depadt took home the individual title, four strokes ahead of Texas State's Briana LeMaire who shot seven-under par. Texas State's Yvonne Chamness finished in third shooting six-under par.
The Texans will have a week off after Texas State and will compete at the Texas Golf Throwdown hosted by Sam Houston. The two-day event will take place at the Woodlands Country Club, on Feb. 16-17.
