Depadt named WAC Women’s Golfer of the Week after second individual title

STEPHENVILLE, Texas — For the second time this spring, Louise Depadt took home the individual crown and was later named the WAC Women's Golfer of the Week, the conference office announced on Thursday.

Depadt claimed her second individual title of the spring, and the fourth in her Texan career. She helped lead the squad to its second top three performance of the spring. The honor is her second of the season and the fourth of her career. The reigning WAC Co-Player of the Year was the WAC Individual champion at the WAC Championship last season leading her team to the first WAC championship and NCAA D1 Regional appearance in school history.

"I am super excited and proud of Louise's award for this week," said head coach Isabel Jimenez. "It is the second one for her this season and third one overall for our team, which means a lot. We are looking forward for what's to come and to keep on earning awards together as a team."

The Lusanger, France, native, started off strongly with a five-under, 67, round. She ended the first round at the top of the leaderboard and never looked back. She posted a pair of even-par rounds in the final 36 holes to shoot 211 to win by three strokes. Depadt led the entire field with nine birdies over the 54 holes. The title marked her second of the spring after winning the opening event of the spring at the Texas State Invitational.

Earlier this spring, she was tabbed the golfer of the week after winning the Texas State Invitational. Each of her three rounds were under par including a new program record, eight-under on her second round. She set the new program 54-hole record shooting an 11-under, 205 as well. That was her spring debut and her first event for the Texans after missing the last four competitions in the fall due to an injury.

The Texans will have this week off before closing out the regular season at the Georgia State Invitational in the final two days of March in Johns Creek, Ga.
