ABOUT THE TEXANNS
The TexAnns went on the road this past weekend and came away with a 1-1 record to improve to 12-2 overall. Tarleton opened the weekend with an 84-60 win over Texas A&M-Commerce on Saturday, before traveling to Odessa on Monday and falling 86-83 to Texas-Permian Basin.
The TexAnns shot .485 from the field in the win over the Lions, while allowing TAMUC to shoot just .379 percent. Shelby Adamson led the TexAnns in the win over TAMUC, scoring a season-high 16 points while dishing out six assists as well. Brittnie Haley scored 16 points as well and Morgan Stehling added 10 points off the bench.
It was a much different story for the TexAnns in their loss to the Falcons. Tarleton shot .414 percent from the floor as an offense, despite being limited to just a .371 percentage from the floor in the second-half. The problem for the TexAnns on Monday wasn't the offense, but the defense rather - allowing the Falcons to shoot .508 percent from the floor and allowing three players to score 16+ points. Sonya Sundberg (18) and Haley (25) each scored season-high totals and both Adamson (11) and Stehling (10) each recorded double-digit efforts, but it wasn't enough. Tammy Acosta led the Falcons with 22 points and Miesha Blackshear tallied 16 of her 20 points in the second-half for UTPB.
TWU GAME RESCHEDULED
The game between the TexAnns and the Pioneers, originally scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 7, has been rescheduled for Monday, Jan. 18 at 6 p.m. The game will still be played at Kitty Magee Arena in Denton.
CATCH ME IF YOU CAN
Before this past weekend, Tarleton had tailed opponents for just a combined 63:58 out of a possible 480 total minutes of playing time. The longest Tarleton went without having led or tied was in Tarleton's come-from-behind victory over Northeastern State. Tarleton trailed the RiverHawks for 25:37 before taking the lead late in the second-half. The TexAnns trailed Southeastern State for a total of 24:36 in the team's only loss this season. Tarleton has not trailed in three of their 12 games this season (SWOSU, Central Oklahoma, Western New Mexico).
Add in the past two games with TAMUC and UTPB, Tarleton has trailed for just 85:06 out of a possible 520 minutes. The TexAnns have either had the lead or has been tied for 84 percent of the time.
SEEING DOUBLE VISION
Brittnie Haley recorded her fourth double-double of the season in Monday's loss to UTPB, scoring a season-high 25 points and pulling down 10 rebounds. It was Haley's 10th double-double of her career. Kelsey Benford is the only other player to record a double-double this season. She scored 11 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in Tarleton's win over Concordia.
HOME SWEET HOME
The TexAnns are a perfect 7-0 inside the friendly confines of Wisdom Gym this season. Dating back to last year, the TexAnns have won 11 straight home contests.
CONTROLLING THE INSIDE
The TexAnns have out-rebounded the opposition in 12 of their 14 games this season and are 10-2 in those contests. Currently, the TexAnns have out-rebounded their opponents in seven straight games and are 5-2 during that span.
Tarleton has been out-rebounded just twice this season, but are a perfect 2-0 in those two games. Pittsburg State out-rebounded the TexAnns 46-41 in Tarleton's 75-46 win over the Gorillas. Tarleton was then out-rebounded 34-27 against Northeastern State, but Tarleton came back to win that game, 56-42.
JONES ON RECORDS WATCH
JoAnne Jones (963) is now just 37 points shy from becoming the 19th player in Tarleton TexAnn history to score 1,000 points in a career.

TEXANNS IN DIVISION OPENERS
Division openers have not been nice to the TexAnns since joining the Lone Star Conference back in 1995. Tarleton is just 5-10 overall in division opening games and has won just one contest (70-61, at Midwestern State 1/16/08) in the past three years. Tarleton is 1-0 all-time in division opening games against Angelo State.
TARLETON STILL AMONG THE NATION'S ELITE
Coach Ronnie Hearne's squad is again well represented in the latest NCAA national statistics released this past week. The TexAnns lead the nation with a +29.2 scoring margin and rank third nationally in scoring defense, allowing opponents to just 50.8 points a game. Tarleton ranks eighth in field goal percentage defense (.332) and seventh in offensive field goal percentage (.486). The TexAnns find themselves ranked in the top 100 nationally in multiple categories including: blocks (10th, 5.2), scoring (11th, 80.1), three-point field goal percentage (23rd, .378), rebound margin (29th, +6.9), assists (33rd, 16.9) and steals (54th, 11.2).

SCOUTING THE RAMBELLES
Angelo State (8-7, 1-0 LSC) has won three straight games heading into Saturday's match-up against the TexAnns, including a 62-58 win over Midwestern State in San Angelo to open-up Lone Star Conference South Division play this past Wednesday. She is followed by Paige Weishuhn's 14.7 points per outing. Weishuhn does top the team however in rebounds (5.7) and blocks (19). The 6-1 center is tops in three-pointers made (24) and 3PT field goal percentage (.522).
The Rambelles are shooting .384 percent from the field as a team. That includes a .286 shooting percentage from beyond the three-point line as well. ASU is converting .642 percent of their shots from the charity stripe.
The Rambelles average 68.4 points a game, which ranks them ninth in the league. The ASU ranks fifth in scoring defense, allowing opponents to score just 65.8 points a contest.
Sally Walling Brooks is in her 10th season as the head coach of the Rambelles and 19th year overall. She brings in an overall record of 358-189 and has won an impressive 71 percent of her games at ASU with a 203-83 mark.
Brooks has led the Rambelles to nine consecutive winning seasons, four LSC South Division titles (2001-03, 2005), three LSC Tournament championships (2002, 2004, 2005) and a streak of seven straight trips to the NCAA Division II Postseason Tournament (2002-2008).
Prior to ASU, Brooks spent nine seasons at Incarnate Word where she compiled seven winning seasons, including a school-record 25 wins during the 1998-99 season. The Cardinals finished that season ranked No. 15 in the nation.
Brooks played her collegiate ball at South Plains College before transferring to Midwestern State.
THE SERIES
Angelo State leads the all-time series 18-17, which includes a series split between the two teams last season. ASU won the first meeting 51-50, but Tarleton came away with a 73-52 victory in the final game of the season last year.
The TexAnns currently hold a three-game winning streak over the Rambelles at Wisdom Gym and are 10-6 all-time in Stephenville. Head coach Ronnie Hearne is just 3-7 against the Rambelles in his career.
