TexAnns host conference home opener Saturday against Angelo State

BACK HOME AGAIN
    The TexAnns return home to host Angelo State after back-to-back road trips.  Five of Tarleton's last seven games have been on the road and the TexAnns will benefit from games in front of a friendly crowd.  Tip-off is at 5 p.m. on Saturday, with the 11-2 TexAnns welcoming the 8-5 Rambelles.  Tarleton is 6-1 in Wisdom Gym this season.

ROAD WARRIORS
    Tarleton has just completed a series of games in Edmond, Okla., Tahlequah, Okla., and Abilene, where they covered 1,021 miles of road en route to and from the contests.  That marks their second longest travel stretch of the season, trailing only the TexAnns' upcoming trips to Canyon and Portales, N.M. next week.

LEADING THE PACK
    The TexAnns are sitting atop of the Lone Star Conference South Division standings with a 11-2 record, 1-0 in conference play.  Angelo State is the closest team to Tarleton with a 8-5 record, and 1-0 mark in LSC action this season.

LEADING THE TEXANNS
    Adamson is averaging a team-high 19.2 points per contest, while Morgan Stehling contributes 11.2 points per game and Brittnie Haley contributes 8.4 points per game.  Adamson is also the team-leader in assists with 4.0 per game and steals with 2.3 per game.  
    Kiara Wright is the team's leading rebounder, grabbing 6.5 boards a contest, with Kelsey Benford adding 6.4 rebounds and Haley adding 5.4 rebounds each game.

TEXANN SHOOTING
    Tarleton is averaging .408 from the floor, .315 from the three-point arc and .675 from the charity stripe.

SHOOTING DEFENSE
    The TexAnns are holding opponents to .397 from the field, .324 from the arc and .633 from the line

OUTING THE OPPONENTS
    Tarleton is outscoring foes 71.7 to 60.6 and outrebounding them 38.0 to 37.2 this season.

NOW ON SPECIAL
    Tarleton has a +5.8 turnover margin, and a 0.9 assist to turnover ratio.  The TexAnns are forcing opponents to commit 21.2 turnovers per contest.

FRESHMAN GLORY
    Tarleton freshman Kiara Wright is one of the top freshmen in the Lone Star Conference. She is leading the team in rebounding (6.4) and is averaging 6.5 points per game.  She is No. 14 in the LSC in rebounding this season.

IN THE CONFERENCE
    The TexAnns are No. 3 in the Lone Star Conference in scoring defense (60.7) behind Northeastern State (54.5) and Angelo State (59.9).  The TexAnns are No. 1 in the LSC in scoring margin (+11.0) and are No. 3 in the league in scoring offense (71.7) behind Southeastern Oklahoma (76.6).
    Tarleton is No. 1 in turnover margin (+5.85) after being No. 3 with 8.8 steals per game.  The TexAnns are No. 5 in assist/turnover ratio (0.9).
    The TexAnns are No. 2 in offensive rebound percentage (.365), trailing just Southwestern Oklahoma (.372).

INDIVIDUALS IN THE LSC
    Shelby Adamson is third in the Lone Star Conference in scoring (19.2) while Morgan Stehling (11.2) is No. 29.  Kiara Wright is No. 14 in rebounding (6.5) and Kelsey Benford is No. 16 (6.4).
    Adamson is No. 3 in steals per game (2.3) and Sonya Sundberg is No. 2 in assist/turnover ratio (1.8).  Benford is also No. 5 in blocks per game (1.6)

CROWDED AT HOME
    The TexAnns lead the league in home attendance average.  Tarleton is averaging 1,368 fans at home in its seven home games this season. Tarleton has also played in front of more fans than anyone else in the LSC – 11,787.

DOUBLE TROUBLE
    The TexAnns have had only two players record a double-double so far this season.  Kiara Wright had 17 points and 16 rebounds in the win over St. Edwards (11/30).  Kelsey Benford had 11 points and 10 rebounds in the win over Texas Woman's (12/20).
    Brittnie Haley was one rebound away from a double-double in the game against Texas A&M-Commerce (1/3) with 12 points and nine boards.  Benford was one rebound away from another double-double when she had 18 points and nine boards against Cameron (11/27).  Shelby Adamson was the most recent TexAnn to fall just short of a double-double or triple-double, scoring 22 points, grabbing nine rebounds, and dishing out seven assists in the TexAnns' loss to Northeastern St. (1/8).

SCOUTING THE RAMBELLES
    Angelo State is 8-5 on the year, and 1-0 in LSC play so far.  The Rambelles have been solid at home, but have struggled on the road, going 2-3 away from San Angelo.
    ASU is led offensively by Camille Perkins, who is averaging 15.6 points per game and shooting 77.3 percent from the free throw line.  Lindsey Mahone is contributing 12.9 points and 7.1 rebounds per game for the Rambelles.
    As a team, ASU is scoring 64.9 points per contest while giving up 59.9 points to opponents.  They are shooting 38.5 percent from the field, 27.2 percent from behind the arc, and 66.3 percent from the charity stripe.

ASU IN THE LSC
    Angelo State is making their mark in the conference statistically both as a team and individually this season.
    The Rambelles are No. 4 in turnover margin (+2.0), a category in which Tarleton is No.1, and No.2 in scoring defense (59.9) behind only Northeastern State.
    Camille Perkins' 15.6 points per game is good for No. 9 in the conference, and her 33.1 minutes per game is tied for No. 4 in the conference.

ALL-TIME SERIES
    Tarleton leads the all-time series with Angelo State by a narrow margin 19-18.  The TexAnns have won the last four meetings in Wisdom Gym and the last three meetings overall.
    Last season, Tarleton won both games, the latter of which was a 62-49 victory in San Angelo on Feb. 27, 2010.
    The Rambelles last won in Stephenville on Feb. 4, 2006 when ASU defeated Tarleton 83-76 in overtime.

SUNDBERG'S STREAK
    Saturday's game will mark senior guard Sonya Sundberg's 100th consecutive start for the TexAnns since joining the team in 2007.  Sundberg has started in every game she has played at Tarleton and has been the one constant for Coach Hearne and his staff over the last four years.

CAREER NIGHT AT ABILENE
    This past Tuesday, two TexAnn players set career highs in points in a game.  Shelby Adamson scored 29 points on 8-of-14 shooting, while going 10-of-12 from the free throw line.  She also scored 18 of her 29 points in the first half alone.
    Tara Towns also scored a career high with 14 points, all of which came in the second half in Tarleton's 75-65 win over ACU.  Towns went 5-of-8 from the field, while hitting a pair of three's and a pair of free throws.
