LSC South Champs will finish regular season at Angelo State

STEP RIGHT UP
    The TexAnns will finish up the 2010-11 regular season at Angelo State Saturday, Feb. 26 at 5:30 p.m.  Tarleton enters the game with a 13-0 Lone Star Conference record and will look to finish undefeated in the South Division for the first time in program history.  The Rambelles enter the game 16-9 overall and 9-4 in the LSC South.  Tarleton is 10-1 on the road this year as well.

INTO THE RANKINGS
    Tarleton was ranked No. 16 in the most recent USA Today/ESPN NCAA Division II poll, in accordance with the American Basketball Coaches Association.  This marks the highest ranking for TexAnn program since moving to Division II.  The TexAnns were ranked No. 19 last week and have been in the Top 25 for the past seven weeks.
    The TexAnns were also ranked No. 2 in the most recent South Central regional poll released Wednesday.  They trail only Northeastern State in the region.  This also marks the highest ever regional ranking in the program's history.

MAKING HISTORY
    The TexAnns clinched the Lone Star Conference South title with their win over the Javelinas on Feb. 19.  This marks the first title in the program's history.  Tarleton has yet to lose a South Division game this season.
    With the win, the TexAnns also clinched a spot in the LSC tournament in Bartlesville, Oklahoma next week.  It marks the eighth straight season that Tarleton will be postseason-bound.

LEADING THE TEXANNS
    Shelby Adamson leads Tarleton in scoring with 16.2 points per game, to go along with 3.8 assists and 4.3 rebounds per game.  Morgan Stehling contributes 10.1 points per game, followed by Brittnie Haley with 9.2 points and Kelsey Benford with 8.0 points each contest.
    Kiara Wright leads the TexAnns with 7.8 rebounds per game, with Benford chipping in 6.4 boards per game.  Sonya Sundberg is also second on the team with 93 assists and 42 steals on the season.

TEXANN SHOOTING
    Tarleton is averaging .429 from the floor, .322 from the three-point arc and .683 from the charity stripe.  In LSC play, the TexAnns are shooting .443 from the floor, .328 from deep, and .683 from the line.

SHOOTING DEFENSE
    The TexAnns are holding opponents to .374 from the field, .316 from behind the arc and .641 from the line.

OUTING THE OPPONENTS
    Tarleton is outscoring foes 73.5 to 58.5 and outrebounding them 37.8 to 34.7 this season.

NOW ON SPECIAL
    Shelby Adamson leads the nation at the Division II level in free throws attempted with 215.  She is also second in the nation in free throws made with 205.

VETERAN LEADERSHIP
    Tarleton junior guard Shelby Adamson was named LSC Defensive Player of the Week last week for the third time this season.  
    Adamson played a major role in the TexAnns' two win last week, guarding both Incarnate Word and Eastern New Mexico's dangerous point guards. Adamson held the two players to a combined 1-for-12 in the two games, while helping Tarleton hold opponents to just 36.6 percent from the field and 60 points on average. She also chipped in 10.5 points per game and eight assists over the two-game stretch. Her defensive prowess is a big reason the TexAnns are 20-2 on the year.
    She joins Wright as a three-time POW, while Kelsey Benford has been named twice this season.

IN THE CONFERENCE

    The TexAnns are No. 2 in the Lone Star Conference in scoring defense (58.6) behind Northeastern State (54.2).  The TexAnns are No. 1 in the LSC in scoring margin (+15.0) and are No. 3 in the league in scoring offense (73.5) behind Central Oklahoma (75.2).
    Tarleton is No. 1 in turnover margin (+5.28) after being No. 1 with 10.0 steals per game.  The TexAnns are tied at No. 2 in assist/turnover ratio (0.9).
    The TexAnns are also No. 1 in offensive rebound percentage (.381), and No. 5 in blocks (3.3).

INDIVIDUALS IN THE LSC
    Shelby Adamson is No. 8 in the Lone Star Conference in scoring (16.2) while Kiara Wright is tied at No. 7 in rebounding (7.8) and Kelsey Benford is No. 16 (6.4).
    Adamson is tied at No. 4 in steals per game (2.2) and No. 7 in assists (3.8), while Sonya Sundberg is No. 1 in assist/turnover ratio (1.9) and No. 8 in assists (3.7).  Benford is also No. 4 in blocks per game (1.6). 

SCOUTING THE RAMBELLES
    Angelo State is 16-9 overall and 9-4 in the LSC South Division.  The Rambelles are 10-3 at home and 5-1 in home LSC contests this season.
    Overall, ASU is shooting 37.8 percent from the floor, 30.1 percent from behind the arc, and 66.9 percent from the charity stripe.  The Rambelles are averaging 63.2 points per game, while giving up 59.1 points to opponents.  They also have a -1.2 rebounding margin and a +3.3 turnover margin.
    Camille Perkins leads the way with 16.9 points per game, while Lindsey Mahone is adding 12.5 points and Paige Weishuhn is adding 9.7 points each contest.  Mahone also leads ASU with 7.1 rebounds a game, followed by Lauren Holt with 6.3 boards per game.

ASU IN THE LSC
    The Rambelles are No. 13 in scoring offense, but No. 3 in scoring defense, making for the seventh-best scoring margin (+4.1) in the LSC.
    Angelo State is towards the middle in the majority of statistical categories, but they are No. 4 in three-point percentage defense (.304) and No. 2 in steals (9.2) and turnover margin (+3.28), trailing only Tarleton.
    Individually, Perkins is No. 6 in scoring, while  Mahone is No. 17 in scoring and No. 13 in rebounding, and leads the conference in steals (2.4).

ALL-TIME SERIES
    The TexAnns lead the all-time series 21-18 in the 35-year history of series.    
    Tarleton has the most recent victory with a 65-47 victory on Jan. 15, 2011 in Stephenville.  The TexAnns have won the last four meetings.
