Tarleton defeated Cameron 89-50 in the largest win of the series, topping the 33-point win in the series' first meeting in 1994. Shanae Lowrance (16), Kiara Wright (13) and Peyton Adamson (10) also cracked double figures.
Last Year's Meetings
Tarleton swept the two meetings last season, including a 15-point victory over the Mustangs in Stephenville on Fox Sports Southwest. In the Wichita Falls meeting, the TexAnns escaped with a five-point win on the strength of double-figure scoring performances from Lowrance (10), Adamson (14) and Wright (12). Wright also added 18 rebounds - 15 defensive.
All-Tournament Trio against the Mustangs
The Tarleton all-tournament trio of Shanae Lowrance, Kiara Wright and Peyton Adamson have found much success in their careers against Midwestern State. In just two career meetings, Lowrance and Adamson are averaging 11.5 and 11.0, respectively, while Wright has a much more extensive resume against MSU. Wright has recorded double-figure rebounds in all four of her career meetings with Midwestern State, including three double-doubles. She recorded a 20-point effort in her first ever game against MSU as a freshman. She averages 13.5 points and 12.8 rebounds per game versus Midwestern State.
Top three scorers in the LSC
This match-up features the Lone Star Conference's top three scorers: Kiara Wright (15.8), Kirsti Degelia (15.8) and Peyton Adamson (15.4).
Bench Production
Tarleton's bench outscored Cameron 37-8 Wednesday night, marking the seventh time in the last eight game in which the TexAnn bench has outscored their opponents bench. The TexAnns have outscored their opponents bench this season 235-203 and is averaging 19.5 points per game from the reserves.
Nation's third-best shooting squad
This season, Tarleton is shooting 49 percent from the field - which is good for the top spot in the Lone Star Conference and third place in the nation. Over the last six games, Tarleton has shot better than 50 percent in every game - including back-to-back 61-percent performances against UIW and Cameron. In that five-game span, Tarleton is 171-305 from the floor which is 56 percent from field goal range.
Wright becoming one of Tarleton's best
After 12 games, Kiara Wright has 144 rebounds to give her 585 for her Tarleton career and is now 3 rebounds shy of passing Karen Hula (587) for 10th place on the all-time list. She is rapidly climbing up the indivdual rebounding lists. Her 397 career defensive rebounds have her currently in fourth place all-time while her 188 offensive boards are good for 10th place all-time, so far. (NOTE: Rebounds were not kept as a divided statistic at Tarleton until the 1987 season.) By passing Brittnie Haley for 11th place on the list, Wright is now the second-highest rebounder in Tarleton's NCAA history - trailing only JoAnne Jones (636), who is currently eighth place on the TexAnn list. Wright has 21 career double-doubles in regular season and postseason contests - eight this season.
Last Time Out for the Mustangs
Midwestern State led Texas A&M-Commerce from the get-go Wednesday night and never trailed. The Mustangs pushed their lead to as many as 21 points in the second half and never led by less than 11 in the final 20 minutes. Lisa Hampton came off the bench to drill five 3-pointers and lead the team with 16 points. Kirsti Degelia and Dianna Jones were next on the team with nine points each.
Looking Ahead for Tarleton
The TexAnns will stay on the road for their annual trip to New Mexico for a Wednesday night affair against Eastern New Mexico at 6:30 p.m.
