LAST TIME OUT

Tarleton overcame a season-high 24 turnovers and rode the hot-shooting hand of Peyton Adamson as the junior's 30-point effort propelled the TexAnns to a 78-63 win at Texas A&M-Kingsville.

EARLY SEASON MEETING

The TexAnns survived an early-season scare in San Antonio when these teams met the first time in January. Tarleton was led by a pair of 20-point scorers - Kiara Wright (25) and Peyton Adamson (20) - and Brianna Bledsoe's 15 points to push past the Cardinals.

PUNCHING THE TICKET

Tarleton qualified for the LSC Championship tournament for the 11th time in school history, including 10 straight under head coach Ronnie Hearne.

30-POINT PERFORMANCES

Tarleton has had two 30-point efforts this season after going almost 12 years since the last one - Shea Kester (36) vs National Christian, Dec. 13, 2001. Kiara Wright scored a career-high 34 points on Jan. 23 against Texas Woman's while Peyton Adamson recorded her career-high 30 points last Wednesday against Texas A&M-Kingsville. They join Saresa Butler (30), Jana Skelton (34, 34), Misty Wilson (33, 33), Kester (36) and Tarleton Hall of Famer Rachelle Bowen (30, 49, 30, 32) to crack the 30-point plateau.

DROPPING DIMES

Freshman Morgan Ashmore is making a strong case for the Freshman of the Year Award. The newcomer from Spearman High School is leading the Lone Star Conference in assists (4.1 apg) as well as assist-turnover ratio (1.8). She is also making national noise with her passing, moving up to No. 38 in assist-turnover ratio. Since taking over as the starter in December, Ashmore and the TexAnns are 14-3.

STEPPING INTO NEW ROLES

Since the loss of Shanae Lowrance and Karli Moore to injury, the TexAnns have undergone significant changes to the lineup with unexpected results. Cheyenne Berry, Keyra Johnson, Erin Sims and Meagan O'Dell have all been subject to change. Berry has stepped into the starting lineup at the forward position and has been a steady replacement in the paint, scoring 8.4 points and grabbing 5.6 rebounds per game (she was at 7.5 ppg and 3.8 rpg prior to the injuries.) Johnson stepped into the 'sixth man' role off the bench while Sims and O'Dell have seen unexpected playing time in the paint. Sims was averging 1.6 ppg and 1.9 rpg over the first 13 games and since seeing her playing time increased has averaged 9.6 points and 5.3 rebounds per game over the last eight games. O'Dell, a guard in high school, has moved to the paint and given Tarleton much needed minutes in the post and seen action in seven of the last eight games after playing in just six of the first 13 games.

REBOUND RECORDS FALLING LEFT AND WRIGHT

Kiara Wright has ripped up the Tarleton rebounding record books this season by moving into fifth place on the all-time rebounding list (721) and becoming the school's all-time NCAA rebounder by passing JoAnne Jones (636). She is also second on the defensive rebound list (503) and is 25 rebounds shy of passing Kaelie Butler (527) and becoming the all-time leader in defensive boards - since 1987 when rebounds were first separated into offensive and defensive. She is also seventh place all-time in offensive rebounds (224). The junior has also recorded three 20-rebound games this season, giving her three of the five 20-rebound efforts in Tarleton's NCAA history. She also has 29 career double-doubles and 16 this season.

CLOSING IN ON 1.000 POINTS

Kiara Wright and Peyton Adamson are now on the verge of becoming the 21st and 22nd players in the school history to join the 1,000 point club. Wright current has 890 career points while Peyton Adamson has tallied 771 points in her career. Adamson's older sister, Shelby, is on the list and currently the fourth-leading scorer in school history and the school's all-time NCAA scorer with 1,544.

HONORING A WOUNDED TEAMMATE

Following the news of Shanae Lowrance's season-ending knee injury, TexAnn teammate Kiara Wright asked to change jersey numbers for the remainder of the season - trading in her 32 for Lowrance's 33.

LAST TIME FOR THE CARDINALS

Incarnate Word held on to withstand a late surge by Texas A&M-Commerce to claim a 65-64 win over the Lions at the McDermott Center Wednesday night. The Cardinals maintained a slim lead over the final 4:34 as TAMUC never was able to retake the lead. UIW was up by four when a desperation 3-pointer by Danielle Dixon at the buzzer brought the final score to a one-point game. Ashlyn Green filled up the box score for UIW with 19 points, seven rebounds, five steals, four assists and two blocks while Rose Whitehead scored 17 points off the bench.
