Last Time Out
Tarleton continued to ride the hot hand of Kiara Wright, who recorded the school's first NCAA 20-20 game with 23 points and 21 rebounds. The 21 rebounds were a career high and it was the fourth 20-rebound game in Tarleton's NCAA history - Wright owns two of them, both this season.
Early season meeting
Tarleton won the first meeting against ASU this season 71-61 in overtime on a double-double (16 points, 13 rebounds) effort from Wright. While Peyton Adamson also had 12 points against ASU, the TexAnns relied heavily on 14-point efforts from Shanae Lowrance and Karli Moore who are both inactive due to injuries.
Player of the Week
Kiara Wright earned a second straight LSC Offensive Player of the Week award after her 20-20 effort Saturday night.
Setting records the Wright way
Jan. 23, Kiara Wright recorded a career high 34 points, including the game winner with 14 seconds left, to make her the sixth TexAnn in the school's 18-year NCAA history to accomplish the feat. She joins Saresa Butler (30), Jana Skelton (34, 34), Misty Wilson (33, 33), Shea Kester (36) and Tarleton Hall of Famer Rachelle Bowen (30, 49, 30, 32) to crack the 30-point plateau. Her 11-15 shooting from the field ties her for the best field goal percentage in a 30-point game in the NCAA era with her coach Misty Wilson (11-15, .733) and she is one of just two players (Skelton) to reach the mark without making or attempting a 3-point shot. Feb. 2, she recorded her second career 20-rebound game en route to the first 20-20 game in Tarleton's 18-year NCAA history. She now owns two of the four 20-rebound games for Tarleton since 1994.
Adamson against Angelo
Peyton Adamson is the only TexAnn on the roster to record double figures in every career game against Angelo State. The junior guard scored 23 points in her first ever meeting and is averaging 16.0 points per game against the Rambelles.
Tarleton's best NCAA rebounder
After 18 games, Kiara Wright has 229 rebounds to give her 670 for her Tarleton career and is now in sole possession of 7th place on the all-time list and the school's leading rebounder of Tarleton's NCAA era. Wright is now six rebounds shy of passing Eleanor Golding (675) - a member of this year's Hall of Fame class - for sixth on the all-time list. She is rapidly climbing up the indivdual rebounding lists. Her 462 career defensive rebounds have her currently in third place all-time while her 208 offensive boards are good for seventh place all-time, so far. (NOTE: Rebounds were not kept as a divided statistic at Tarleton until the 1987 season.) Wright has 26 career double-doubles in regular season and postseason contests - 13 this season. She has scored 20 points in six games this season and nine times in her career while recording two 20-rebound games.
Honoring a wounded teammate
Following the news of Shanae Lowrance's season-ending knee injury, TexAnn teammate Kiara Wright asked to change jersey numbers for the remainder of the season - trading in her 32 for Lowrance's 33.

After trailing by as many as 11 points in the second half, Angelo State rallied back against West Texas A&M in Canyon Saturday night to make it a 3-point game with just 1:27 left to play in the game. WT went to the free throw line and drained a pair. The Lady Buffs led by at least four points the rest of the way en route to a 54-48 win against the Rambelles. Jennifer Lapp led the team with 15 points off the bench while Haylee Oliver also cracked double figures.
